Guys, I have a VI Delhi number that I only use for incoming SMS. Currently, VI charges Rs.24 from main balance every 15 days to keep number active and I do not get any amount to use or benefits for this recharge. My main balance is going to finish soon and I was wondering if there is a better plan to recharge with for keeping number active.
Can you please suggest cheapest option to recharge that will increase the validity and keep number active.
I am okay to recharge with more amount if that helps brings down monthly cost.
Thanks

Balance will expire…only used for talktime
You need to keep watching the offer section of that number *121#.. so that you will get some recharge offers like
₹39=₹39 with 28days validity (but its secondary balance which will expire after validity)
and sometimes will get ₹100 topup with regular talktime (main balance) with 28days service validity.
Otherwise you need to ignore monthly deduction of 48 (24+24) as it is. No other option.
Thanks .. so, if I see a promotion through *121#, do I need to recharge through *121# or can I do recharge from any website ..

Rs. 48 pack gives 3GB data and 28 days validity which is a lot better than Rs. 49 pack if you’re not gonna use the TT.
Thanks .. and yes, I am not gonna use data, TT or SMS.. I only need the number for incoming SMS
Port to bsnl and make vi company to bankrupt, so less competition in air over signal, so let birds can live….
What is the cheapest option in BSNL to keep number active ?
Btw, isn’t BSNL going bankrupt too ?
I don’t know if it’s still relevant today but
@DealLooter had suggested recharge of 100 which extends validity by 28 days & gives 81 talktime.
Thanks .. so were you able to use 81 balance afterwards to recharge again or that expires after 28 days ?
I think best is port to BSNL and recharge of 365 rs for 365 days with 2 GB per day for 60 days and free talking also.
Another advantage of BSNL is extra talk time – 1100 recharge gives 1200 talktime. Though I’m not aware if this plan can be recharged through main balance as it also depends on circle. Still a cheap option to keep SIM active.
If you have no specific use of Vi then Jio or BSNL are cheaper. For Jio as you mentioned 4g device is required.
Bsnl is best
Damn this prepaid sim validity management is becoming a big headache!!
.
Time to make an app which tracks all plans valid for that particular sim in that circle and recommends what to do – recharge or port to someone else if applicable :toungueout:
.
Everyone wants a min ₹200/month nowadays with their voice+data plans.
Having even 2-3 SIMs is damn expensive to maintain esp with no benefits.
A household has a min of 4-5 phones/SIMs costing ~₹1000 + 1-2 DTH connections costing ~₹500 + an wired internet connection costing ~1000 + a landline costing ~250/month…
.
We need ~₹2000-2500 a month just to manage phone, tv & internet!!!
If you are in Delhi then there is MTNL port into it ,
if you are outside Delhi port into BSNL ..
anyways i have Idea sim and i never recharged it since 3 months and incoming is working fine !
If its only for incoming sms, port into bsnl, use 365 plan for 365 days. That’s the best deal you have.
Ive 3 numbers, will port to bsnl this week n collect sims. Hope 365 plan exist till then.
There is a recharge option of Rs. 49 that gives a balance of Rs.38 with 28 days validity. Will this balance expire after 28 days or can be used for next recharge ??
