( I don’t support any parties or political agenda. I have seen and learned it first hand. If a person is afraid or is fearful to live in a country that he/she was born to , then surely something’s wrong, either with him or the country. I guess then there’s something wrong with the person, right ?)

Cow vigilantes are a blot on society. But, to target modi because some dumbfucks burned trucks carrying cows is nonsensical.

@Mirror I do hold native cow breeds dear to my heart but for reasons very different from those of bhakts. While I endorse conservation of these breeds, I’m absolutely against the ban of cow slaughter.
Just the other day, a friend was telling me about a peculiar dog that they once had. It was a cross between a Labrador and a local breed. Whenever they cooked the fowls which grew in their own backyard, the dog would not eat them. It seemed like he had developed a special bond with those chicken and ducks surrounding him that he would not eat their meat. I was quite amazed to hear that because it was the same principle in function when some of our ancestors refused to eat the meat of the cows and bulls. These two animals were so intertwined in their daily living that they considered them their own kith and kin. Now would anyone kill his own people and have them for food? I guess even cannibals won’t.
But this has nothing to do with religion. Once something is given a religious decree, all the mischief begins. What is the difference between a fanatical Muslim on a Jihad spree and a fanatical Hindu on a protect-the-holy cow spree? Perhaps just their names. I don’t understand how these “Hindus” call those “Muslims” terrorists! How would anyone justify killing a human just because he eats something which others don’t like? Just imagine, the dog above started biting others who ate the fowls from their backyard just because it didn’t like it. Would you say the dog was right to do such? Only an isane person would do that. What is happening in this country is the height of insanity!

@enapster In fact, they were transporting the Tharparker, a rare “desi” cow breed for a program in Tamilnadu which aims at the conservation of native breeds (I’m surprised to hear such a govt. program even exists here), not a “videsi” breed giving tonnes of milk as you have assumed. Though I like your passion for logic and reason, I’m afraid the same logic hinders you from seeing certain things as they are. If you think things get validated as facts only when they are backed by modern/western scientific theories/methods (most of which are basically reductionist in nature), then we cannot go far in understanding things. But it is good to keep an open mind which might help us find things beyond the scope of modern science. Perhaps it will take some time for the western intellectual to come to the same conclusion our local farmers have about cows.
Subhash Palekar, a natural farming advocate from Maharashtra, says that only desi cows truly belong to the family of cows while the videsi ones belong to the family of pigs. The milk of the former is akin to mother’s milk while the milk of the latter is not good for human consumption. Even in the western countries, they were/are brought up primarily for their meat, not for their milk. Those who understand the beauty of evolution will agree that it is good for any species to consume only those things which grows naturally in its environment because everything in that ecosystem is interconnected. Evolution has built those characteristics which are necessary for the survival of those species in that particular environment/ecosystem. When a foreign species is introduced into that environment, it requires a great deal of human intervention in the form of drugs etc. to help it survive there.
Many natural farming advocates are of the opinion that there was (and still is) a great deal of conspiracy between the corporate companies and the governments, in the name of white revolution, to bring people out of their age old farming and cattle rearing practices so that every part of this process could be corporatized. What stands as a big hindrance to them is the desi cow. Once it is eliminated, everything will fall in their hands. Then the farmers have to depend on those companies for fodder, drugs, artificial insemination for their catlle. It destroys the self-sustaining micro-economies of our villages which form the very backbone of this country. So videsi cows are not good either for our health or for our economy. Hope this clears the air a bit.
