“Some Indian companies in the honey business were importing synthetic sugar syrups from China to adulterate honey.
These syrups, said Ms. Narain, were capable of passing off as honey, even up to half of which were mixed with sugar, as ‘pure honey’. "

Damn these Chinese are so good at everything laughing

Just thinking why can’t some of them price their honey higher & give pure stuff? Why all companies are resorting to adulteration?

After seeing names like Baidyanath makes me wonder what powder they would be using in their various capsules if they can do this in liquid item like honey.

demand is very high for honey.
there is not enough pure honey in market to meet this demand.
add chinese syrup, bypass FSSAI tests, meet the supply with demand and get money.

On opening given link there’s a big advert of Dabur claiming to be NMR profiled pure honey. Clicking the link takes you to a report. Is this a joke by Hindu newspaper?? Poor standard of advertisement choice by newsite..

There is a simple test of honey that I learn as a child. Put a drop in a large glass of water. If in falls to the bottom spherically without losing its shape of getting mixed in water, its pure. Practically all packaged honey fails this test.
I personally get my honey from the collectors working at Sunderbans. The wild variety. Even bee keepers feed their bees on sugar syrup and antibiotics. Not the best option.
