Door locking mechanism broken - SEE VIDEO !!

This is my kitchen glass door. And the highlighted area is the strip connected to door handle, which is used for door locking. Turning handle down moves the circle part down and door opens. Turning handle up moves circle part up which locks with the hook on door frame and door locks.

Problem: The strip (Kabja) shown above is a local one and bulging out, and does not fit the door and door frame properly. The original fitting strip is no more available in market. The door inside is also damaged by the carpenter.

Anything I can do in this case? I checked with 3 carpenters, they say i have to change the door completely costing 35k, because this type of strip is not available in market now😌
