Hello Friends, It had been almost 8 months when I had started selling on Ebay and I must say its lot of fun.I had started this business on ebay after passing my engineering entrance and I must say it is the best part time job in India.I will not share my ebay id otherwise it will be considered self promotion by the Dimers.
After reading the thread made by Wikipedia,I come to know that dimers are still noobs in ebay selling, so I decided my make my own thread and help other dimers who want to start their business on Ebay.As I have a good experience of selling and also have contacts with higher authorities of ebay,I am sure I can provide solution to any problem relating to ebay selling.
Hope my thread is not against any policies of Desidime.
Some tips for becoming a good seller on Ebay :-
1.Treat your customers like a new born baby,you must always agree with their views.Also don’t lose your temper easily, you temper will destroy your business and reputition on Ebay. 
2.Always be ready to process refund for the item you sold.There is a possibility that the item may get stolen or damaged in the transit.Ebay is not responsible for any kind of damage done by your Logistic Services. 
3.Item sold must be shipped within 48 hours and shipping details must be provided to the buyers.When buyers see the shipping details they get excited and start thinking about the product in their dreams. 
4.Don’t argue with your buyers if they want to return the product.Always make them feel that their money is safe and also your policy should be to provide money back or replacement in case of a return for atleast 7 days after the product is delivered. 
5.Avoid the situation of Ebay Claims, as ebay will never takes side of a seller. 
Ebay Powership :-
Ebay powership, as everyone here must know is the Logistic Service provided by ebay in which ebay orders are shipped through 1st Class Courier Companies such as Fedex ( My Favourite ) , Bluedart and Aramex.
This service is only provided to the sellers with more than 97 % positive feedback with min. feedback of 50.To enroll in this program a user must sign up an agreement with ebay.Ebay provides his packing material at Rs.2 per packing ( Small , Medium or Large ).The powership charges within the city are Rs.29 ( including taxes ) and for National Delivery the rate is Rs.45 ( including taxes ) for 500gms parcel.
Pros :-
1.Most of the parcels are delivered in 2-3 days and ebay live tracks the delivery of the parcel, so no need of buyer to confirm receipt,means fast re-emittance.
2.Parcels are handled very carefully as they are sent through Top Class Courier Companies.
3.Even if any damage takes place in transit, full amount of the damaged product is paid by Courier Company.
4.Home Pickup Service is awesome.Just mark the item ready to ship and make a call to your LSP.They can even pick your parcels in the midnight, if you order them too.
5.Fast shipping discount is also provided by ebay if item is shipped in 48 hours of transaction.
6.Delivery time extends from 5 days to unlimited.
Cons:-
1.Many times a parcel is weighted wrongly and it takes much time to get your money back.
2.Many parcels travel in volumetric weight instead of original weight,means you have to pay much more.
3.If even the buyer lives in your neighbourhood you have to ship the item through powership.
4.You cannot sell recharges as if recharges move to powership category it will be necessary to ship them. 
5.Many categories are not supported under powership.For them you have to ship through your own tie-ups.

if a buyer mis-spells city name, powership wont pick that and you have to use alternate channel like your own courier. so powership is not the only medium for you, and you still have to maintain your own courier (ofcourse, for non-coverage locations by powership this is still an issue)
Yes, you are right,there are many categories and locations for which ebay do not provide shipping service.For that I have a tie up with First Flight Couriers,they deliver the products everywhere.
For the city mispells, you can contact Mr. Edwin Fernandez and find out the solution.The person is the head of the powership department.

i dont think we had 100 off coupons at that time.
we used to get 250 off (255 min purchase) at that time
and those were the tough days where we had to bunk college and keep packing day and night
but real fun as the profit was high due to turn-over as well as coupon pricing

Yes but one need to weigh pros and cons and their ability to handle diff things (courier/complaints/packing etc.) before taking this up. may be they should be ready for loss as well, not trying to discourage but want every one to be cautious. There are other friends and even relatives who started selling on ebay after seeing us but had to incur losses as they couldnt analyse the overall costs properly and item selection, packing and customer service and listing items turned out as low points for them. they finally had to resell their stock to us at further discounted price. so if someone wants to try ebay sales, what i would suggest is, start with few items and that too low cost ones. once you get confidence, scale up but be cautious.
Selling on Ebay is a very risky & Harrasing as far as i know after reading most of the Threads regarding Ebay @ Desidime. Since u highlighted some positives so many of dimers are thinking seriously to become Ebay seller.

agree, its risky and headache. that is the very reason we are not continuing with it as we are already pressured with our jobs. for a full timer, with proper research and hold on online sales, they can go for it by taking risk. but i personally do not encourage every one to just start selling like that.

That’s why I had already mentioned in the main post that always be prepared to refund for the item you sold as anything can happen in transit….You have to be smart and choose the right item to sell….For a Newbie, Pendrives and Memory Cards are the best items to sell….

Yes drop shipping is allowed.You can consider Alibaba for Dropshipping….Almost every ebay international seller dropships….

refund, once initiated will be on hold only for 5 days. and not every locality, you get PODs. Metros and all possible. But smaller towns, due to issues with delivery franchisees, the PODs take longer and sometimes will get delayed like hell. we shipped through dtdc and lost quite some claims due to not being able to furnish POD on time. its not so easy to get PODs for 100% of transacions.
@yoyo – sorry to hear that bro. as i said, many of my friends/relatives started and not even one continued. Some dropped due to headache involved and some due to losses.

For us, of the 2 years we did business, almost complete 1st year was a learning curve. Ofcourse, the knowledge of online shopping was very less that days. now, it reached nook and corner and every netizen knows some stuff atleast. and forums like DD are educating them well, so the learnign curve will be lesser now but definitely it takes something to continue as a seller. not a cake walk for every one.

Refund can be put on hold for many days……You have to convince Customer Care Department that POD cannot be arranged in such a short period of time….I myself remember a case in which a fake buyer from Orissa after receiving the product, initiated the refund I had talked to ebay customer service and put refund on hold for almost 20 days.After I receive the POD, I mail that to ebay and in 24 hours the amount got credited to account balance.

yes buddy earlier he is charging 15 for punjab(local),20 for punjab,haryana,rajsthan,delhi,up, 25 for rest of india up to 250 gms….. now he told that crossing fees has increased now he is charging 25,30,50 repectively and not 100% gurnaatee for pod

you seem to be a pro. what is your sales on ebay?
with fuel prices going high, getting 500gm at 35 is real deal unless and until you give them huge volumes.
i know couple of sellers complaining about high courier charges, please pm me your details and i can ask them to get in touch with you for reduced courier charges.
with some months touching more than 2-3 lakh sales, we could not get your rates. we were assigned with HSAM managers, high selling account managers or something, and we could not enjoy the privileges that you are talking about. so may be you are some gold power seller or a star rated seller

50rs is way too much, most couriers will charge between 35-45rs for bulk shipping

50rs is way too much, most couriers will charge between 35-45rs for bulk shipping
he is the only person in my town which holds all the couriers,monoply(ondot,blazeflash,dtdc,madhur,trackon)
Buy only those things in which you have confidence that it will get sold on ebay….I prefer jaw dropping deals when the 100off or 150off coupon arrives…..
