Free e-NACH setup options?

I have CCs from ICICI, Axis, IDFC and HDFC. While I pay them manually through HDFC Billpay (wife's account) for rewards with a Platinum debit card, as a failsafe I like to have auto-debits in place. However, I only have an ICICI account and I have auto-debit set up for my ICICI cards.
Though e-NACH appears to be the solution, I don't want to pay setup charges for the same which every bank except Paytm seems to charge. And Paytm is not an option anymore for these things. The other bank accounts I have are SBI and Kotak.

Can u explain how this E-NACH works?
What happens if we pay using HDFC Bill Pay or some other way early?
Does it again deduct? Making it a double payment? If this is how it works is there any way we can cancel for that single payment?
I decided to take a risk and registered multiple mandates on my ICICI Gold Savings Account. It has been nearly 10 days and I have not been charged yet. I hope it remains that way. Their service charges document states this -
But the wealth banking page specifically includes online -
Almost all normal savings accounts levy charges for mandate setup. Only salary accounts don't do that. Using ICICI salary acnt & no charges so far
SBI and Kotak both charge one time charges to setup mandates.
I heard HDFC doesn't. Maybe someone here can confirm.
