The then Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has been rumoured to have shown d8sinterest to focus on India as it is a country with nit as many paying customers for Snapchat.
For Amazon or others in the retail space, it is not really profitable to be here in the retail market. It is more of a prestige and ego issue as PRC (which can be the largest market) does not let foreign companies in this space prosper.
Google has been competing with iCloud, Alibaba cloud, Axure, AWS since ages
and even been making others chase them in data analytics ans spying/snooping on consumer data, preferences. Both Mera, Google have long been competing with Amazon on various levels.
Meta piggybacking on Jio to let Whatsapp access consumer patterns, was long an indication of others wanting to tap into that too.
Google found an easy way as Walmart did not put up tough conditions on partial stake sales in Flipkart.
