GPay convenience fee for recharge

Hey,

I just did a jio prepaid recharge of 749 on GPay and was charged 3 rupees convenience fee. I did not know that GPay charges convenience fee, So I just wanted to let everyone know.

GPay convenience fee for recharge

Edit: I have done some testing and it looks like the convenience fees are like this:

For recharge amounts of 1 to 100, there is no convenience fee,

For recharge of 101 to 200 it's 1 rupee convenience fee,

For 201 to 300 it's 2 rupees,

and for 301 and above, the maximum convenience fee is 3 rupees.

It's not being charged from upi apps.

It's from recharge service provider apps.

SIM card companies stopped giving commission to these apps like paytm, phonepe, Google pay etc.. So they charging convenience fee.

Some companies do not charge like mobikwik, Amazon

Has anyone else except me gotten the convenience fee yet? I haven't seen anyone else mention that they got it too. Did I just get massively unlucky with it? Lol. I have the Axis Ace CC, so it's still worth it for me to use Google Pay for recharge.

I contacted Google Pay support just to make sure it wasn't just kind of a bug and that I wasn't charged wrongly, but they confirmed that they have started charging convenience fee and that it's not a bug.
