Hi All,
Although I did not use more than my limit, still me and some of the dimers got the below email from HDFC. It looks so weird that they send this email without any justification. I forfeited all my cc points.
Subject:Usage on Your HDFC Bank Credit Card – Intimation1 Dear Cardmember, This is with reference to your HDFC Bank Credit Card bearing number xxxxx and the Cardmember Agreement entered into by you for availing of the Credit Card and the Terms and Conditions for usage of Credit Cards available on the Bank’s Website. At the outset, we would like to thank you for your continued patronage on HDFC Bank Credit Card. We wish to inform you that we have observed certain unusual and abnormal transaction patterns in your usage of the above Credit Card. The credit limit utilization on your Credit Card is much higher than the sanctioned monthly limit. Additionally, the transactions show a trend that is indicative of non-personal/ business /working capital requirements, which are not permitted under the Cardmember Agreement As per HDFC Bank’s card usage terms, retail credit cards are to be used only for transactions that are consistent with personal consumption and to the extent of the sanctioned credit limit. In order to ensure compliance to the same, HDFC Bank conducts a periodic assessment of spends done using the credit card. If a customer is consistently observed to be using the credit card other than the purpose for which the same has been issued, the Bank will necessarily have to take immediate steps in relation to such credit card including closing the credit card for retail usage purposes. Since your usage of the above Card is not as per the terms of the Cardmember Agreement and the above Terms and Conditions, we are constrained to maintain a partial suspension of your credit card effective 26-Mar-2021 thereby permanently lapsing the reward points accrued on your card as per the conditions mentioned in the Cardmember agreement. However, you can continue to use your Credit Card for other transactions, which are not in violation of the Cardmember agreement and continue to effect payment towards the card usage as usual. In our continued efforts to offer you the best financial services, we earnestly wish to avoid further measures in this regard. Hence, we advise you to use your Credit Card according to the assigned credit limit, guidelines and terms of the Cardmember Agreement. We wish to re-affirm that your relationship is important to us. Yes bro so many known dimers have got this email. I know few who did not spend more than their credit limit

Good to see HDFC tracking the usage of its cards!
Sometime back saw a thread of someone asking how to redeem some 6L points or so. And then one on forum, someone was using 50% credit limit every month to load NPS.
Many are misusing the DCB/Infinia range of cards which were given to quite a lot of people lately. 3.3% on transactions plus up to 10X on Smartbuy is no joke. Too many transactions on Amazon/Flipkart might be by DCB/Infinia cardholders to order for friends/family to get bonus RP’s.
The total credit limit is not supposed to be used to the full every month/year. It is given to keep overall credit usage low.
How much spend here ?
If lot of GC and NPS HDFC is withing der right to take such actions..

@deals44u @guest_999 i guess hdfc customers who have Business credit cards will not receive such email… majority of customers who received such email might not have business cards
I have yet to see someone here holding a business corporate hdfc credit card, that should tell you something. Btw all typical card offers exclude corporate cards.

Telling them not to spend is like cutting that branch you are sitting on
It is called majority subsidising a few. In Insurance sector it is assumed that out of 100 people taking life insurance not more than 20-30 would be claiming it & this is what makes the insurance industry sustain. When a bank issues credit card to 100 people it expects that only 20(just an example) of them would be using the card for max benefits while rest would not so basically those other 80 people subsidise the rewards of 20 persons & the bank’s profit. However if 80 people start using the card for max benefit or 20 peoples’ max benefits start outweighing the profit from remaining 80 people not using the card so much then bank starts cracking down on people & benefits.

Paying NPS (Tier II) repeatedly (& subsequently withdrawing it & re-entering again & again?

Can you explain each and every transaction on your credit card which has happened in the last one year, including source of payments?
I have a feeling that you must be at fault somehow. Banks won’t do this to any honest customer.
It’s a copy pasted email for so many dimers and I know personally two people who never spent at all got this email. So don’t come to conclusion just like that saying honest or dishonest. Banks are always not honest to so many customers else they would not have lend to ppl like mallaya and Nirav modi.
The reason I mentioned this @deals44u was not for blaming but more as a pointer on what could have gone wrong. If you feel you are a victim of horse-sh*t from HDFC, ask them the reason, else escalate via twitter/priority redresses. Most people i know got their points forfeited because of spending too much on Amazon & NPS month after month or buying hotels/flights for their friends or paying insurance/utility bills on behalf of their “nobody”.

It’s difficult to redeem them during present times – Covid & farmer’s protest & lock-downs – for many. Other option, ofc, is to let go of the best possible value of redemption & settle for 25% or less.

Actually their ai systems know which kind of transactions you are doing and they have set a limit on those categories of transactions or someone looks care regarding it (may a neutral network) thus i recommend everyone only spend on those categories that are non commercial in nature
But many people think themselves to be smarter than such AI systems(& Income Tax dept)
Hdfc shd not give these sales then no meaning of those

So I called up Infinia customer care to enquire about this phrase. They said it is for those who are spending close to their limit and paying and then spending again, multiple times.
However, if you still think that this has been sent to you out of the blue then, by all means, contact HDFC & get your points reinstated.

Don’t think you can outsmart a bank(for that you need to be a mallaya/nirav). If bank decided to punish you for card misuse then it won’t matter whether you have already redeemed the points or not.
Even I had received same kind of mail mentioning my Regalia card which was already upgraded to diners in Jan, so I think that they might had used past history instead of using recent months.
So ur points are retained or forfeited?
what is the salary eligibility for infinia?
so instead of upgrading their system/infra HDFC is sending hopeless emails to their innocent customers.
