Closing cc does not mean all your previous/future liabilities are also gone, suppose if by mistake you got extra 1k cb from sbi so even after closing the card the sbi reserves the right to recover that from the card in future. If you still think sbi card is wrong then file a complaint in rbi ombudsman.

If you have proof in written like email that card is closed then you have zero liability. As card co agreed in written which is like a contract similar to the one you agreed to when signing for the card.

That's why I always close card via email or ask for confirmation via email.

Complain rbi ombudsman in all the cases. Sbi needs to learn the lesson in every way on this reward point issue.

Re-activation? Looks like they never closed your card lol (Upon receiving card closure requests, some banks temp block credit cards). Closure means the end, the agreement with the bank / cc issuer gets lapsed and no they cannot close and activate card just like that for whatever reason (The card account remains active at least for while and the refunds received post card-closure will be sent to user linked/specified bank account). It is the responsibility of the bank to make sure that the user cleared the dues (RPs will get lapsed once the request gets processed. In the case of negative RP, equivalent value gets debited from your card limit) and then only proceed with the closure

Reach out to RBI Ombudsman and quote the 7 working-day deadline for closure requests

If you have proof about closure request of card goahead and log complaint with SBI first. If they dont close card within 7 days you get Rs 100 per day compensation.

In your case its 3 month(90 Days-7 Days)=83 Days * 100 = 8300 INR.

Did you get noc? If yes, then i think u can use it to show that it is closed to ombudsman. But otherwise, u don't have much proof.

It is sbi card so I doubt they ever give NOC unless customer specifically ask for it.

In my case, as the card closed, reward points of @ 1700 set to zero but now to reverse the mistakenly given reward points, as there are no points in my account now they charged it to my card in 1:4

After closing my SBI SimplyCLICK a few days ago, I had requested NOC. They did send one today but even that comes with threatening wording:

"We wish to inform you that your SBI credit card account has already been closed and as on date there are no dues payable to us. Kindly note that this NOC is not with regard to the charges incurred by you, on the abovementioned card, which has not been posted or do not reflect in your SBI Credit Card account due to various reasons such as 'pending authorization', 'system or other errors'. Irrespective of this NOC, in such cases you shall accordingly continue to be liable to pay the amount that may accrue on your card."

Translation: we may charge you any time any amount in the future despite no dues pending now like how we forfeited reward points and shamelessly debited unexplained amounts and reversed instant discounts too for so many of our customers without any detailed breakdown given  :)

SBI CC is not offered by SBI but by a NBFC subsidiary. So they have tendency to commit more frauds. Their main business will never be affected so they do not bother. One of the reasons I always stay away from SBI CC.
