It's such a beautiful topic!
So we are listing problems here. Like many other questions, we wouldn't have thought of it while we were a kid.
I will write my answer to a different but related question and hope to get passing marks 
How about asking ourselves "What changes/additions can I make to the world to make it a better place?", focusing on solutions.
We lack kindness and compassion.
A kid who is new to the world (insecure and non-influenced) would have these. He won't mind sharing his food with others. He'll laugh when others surrounding him are joyful. He'll cry sensing sadness around.
We learn stuff, think we're smart and have the privilege to step over others. Sooner or later, we learn that we're not the one in command.
We lack Empathy.
While kids express feelings freely, grown-ups sometimes become reluctant to express. They call themselves reserved, while in reality they have not been listened to, understood for a long while and then they no longer bother. Most people have scars of some kind. So we need to be less judgmental and create space to talk and listen.
It would have been great if just by a handshake people got to know each other's true life story. They may understand the reasoning behind another person's behaviour.
I think we can give small-small reasons for smiling to people around us. It has the potential to take over all the sufferings.
We can let the kid inside us live. It's going to make us vulnerable, but life anyways has its ups and downs. Life will always be fun.
This very world can be better than heaven and bitter than hell. We've only HEARD of after-life. Let's make it better.
