International Agency Finds Cancer Causing Chemicals In Popular Indian Spice Brands
Recently, a report published on the official website of Hong Kong’s food regulatory authority-- Centre for Food Safety (CFS) on April 5th mentioned that three spice products in India have cancer-causing chemicals that contain a pesticide known as ethylene oxide. Here’s all you need to know about this shocking report.
Food regulators in Hong Kong and Singapore released a report in the first week of April and warned the masses to avoid adding spices products from India as they were tested with cancer causing substances Ethylene oxide. The list of spices include three spice products from two big Indian companies MDH and one from Everest that have exceeded the permissible limit of chemicals. In fact, there is no quality control for food, medicine, and other products in India. These political parties and government officials just accept bribes from these private firms (electoral bonds etc). This is why a number of Indian food products are banned in first world countries.

It's not possible to avoid large scale usage of cheap pesticides by farmers to protect their agricultural produce. Indian warm and humid climate provides an ideal environment for pests to survive and thrive. Majority of the farmers cannot afford costly alternatives to pesticides. Even ground water has been found to be contaminated with pesticides.
It should not be surprising if pesticides traces beyond permissible limits are detected in our agricultural products.

If one goes IN with a mindset of it not being possible or goes in half-heartedly with self doubt
then yes, it is not possible.
But otherwise it definitely IS possible.
Rwanda was not a country free of corruption or other problems like literacy or awareness, but its success in trying to eliminate the use of plastics in day to day life
now gets quoted around the world.
Challenges exist in all walks of life. It is not the 'giving up' but the 'taking them head on' that matters.
Also, planning, foresight and being ready to learn from failures (adapting and changing as per the need of the hour) can surely make mountains move (figuratively and literally).

Most of these case go vanish after some time.
Few months back some news came against cough syrup in Uzbekistan.
But later investigation revealed that children lost life because of overdosing.
International agency easily Target Indian brands.

I still remember Sharad Pawar (in his hay-days of helming the Ministry of Agriculture and such affairs) openly expressing his helplessness with even the farmers from Maharashtra
who ignored all requests pertaining restrictions on the use of pesticides, fertilizers.
Especially some of the substances that are banned not only in the western economies but in India too.
Even the likes of Saudis shooed away our exports (of chillies) after sampling (testing of samples) on grounds of not meeting the norms.
It was sad to know/ see/ realise that the stock went there, came back that much more 'stale' and then the same ministry, laws of the land allowed it to be put on the tables of consumers here (despite it being deemed unsafe for consumption by the Saudis).

It is the same with passenger cars too.
Even the likes of Mahindra, Tata, Suzuki India (erstwhile Maruti Suzuki) fail miserably on even basic safety parameters.
And everyone from the passengers, consumers themselves to the authorities have no problems.
For a few months after the worms/maggots in the chocolates.. Mondelez India foods private limited started the practice of Cadbury's branded chocolate slabs being packed such that an inner layer of shabby tin/ aluminium foil was there on the chocolate.. BEFORE the outer/main layer.
Now Cadbury chocolates are back to being packed directly in the outer wrapper.
It still often gets punctured or has moisture, other contaminants going in.
Even if not cancer causing, how infuriating it is if one is charged for black pepper or powdered black pepper but instead is given a mix of pepper and papaya seeds.
The authorities have never bothered to bring to book those who indulge in adulteration.
'Fines' are anyway a joke in India.

Pesticides are present in our food at the base level, agriculture needs serious reforms. You can't ban pesticides but rationing should be done on amount of pesticide sold to each farmer based on land size.

Bro small farmers never recieve subsidised urea which government produce.
All these subsidised urea eaten by large farmers who have link with distributers.
Same thing will happen with pesticides also.
On ground no small farmer get any kind of subsidized urea, seeds or anything.
We live in a village and I saw how all these things eaten by millionaires.

You know the pesticide rules are made in such a way that state authorities can't ban a pesticide more than 3 months no matter how dangerous it is.
If they ban the pesticide during seeding season the pesticide is already available at retail outlets and can't be stopped. If authorities takes action then innocent retailers are abused who purchased the pesticide when it wasn't banned.
If they ban prior to seeding season then it's made available during the seeding time by the companies.
