Do you know if, it is legal to buy on aliexpress.com from India? Is there any ban or new restrictions on this? I wanted to order a few items from aliexpress.com, hope I won’t be breaking the law.
The same items, now third party sellers are selling on our local e-com platforms for 5 times more expensive.

I don’t think they can ban like that. Aliex is just a hub wherein other sellers sell their products, just like Amazon or Flipkart. But this is India, the only country in the world where eBay doesn’t exist, so who knows. They can ban imports from China, but there are many items which are not from China on Ali.

That was the point all along.
In short, I can’t answer to your query, sorry. But if they show a specific item eligible for shipping to India, you can order. 99% Indian customs will steal it anyway, but you can get refund.
Was about to post the same. Even if you are able to order, I don’t think you will get the product.
China import was banned recently but have been facing the problem since 2+ years now. And also, duty amount charged has increased abnormally since 2016-17. Used to regularly order phones and tabs from china. I used to be charged 1.5k to 2k and sometimes even no charge. where as since 2017, I paid 7k duty for 12k tab, 10k duty for 40k phone andv12k for 45k. Stopped buying since Dec 18
