No offence but you need a News channel as well.

You basically have to pay 130 rupees per month now, add 18% GST on top of that, for a maximum of 100 Free to Air channels. Amongst that you’ll be forced to take 25 DD channels, so the rest 75 channels you can choose, 75 SD channels that is. If you choose HD channels then 1HD=2SD channels. Basically a 100 SD channel slot.

Also if you choose to select only those mandatory DD channels, again those Free to Air ones, still you’ll be forced to pay 130+18% GST.

The good thing about the rule is, the MRP of a channel can’t be more than 19 rupees. Even though that’s irrelevant as tv channels are mostly watched in a package, but whatever.

Nutshell: I can’t say anything concrete about Tata Sky, but basically if you were paying north of 600/700 per month, your bill might reduce by 10% or so. However, if it was less than 500 PM it’ll only increase, like it has for more than 80% of the consumers.
