Would you choose high paying frustrating job over satisfying job with meagre salary?
How did you find the balance?

Depends on how much money you need to live comfortably, a salary of 50k per month is enough to live comfortably in a tier-2 city but not in Delhi/Mumbai. Once you have achieved that comfort level with salary then start thinking about job satisfaction because no point in having job satisfaction between 9 to 5 if you need to spend 2 hours hanging in crowded Mumbai local to reach your 6 by 6 feet room/home.
@MrKool_JJ correct the room dimensions as per what ever is considered as cheap/small nowadays in Mumbai.
lol, anyone from either fine.
Most employees in India(or any developing country) falls under frustrating job with meagre salary
Are you (knowingly/ unknowingly) exaggerating a bit?
Now looking for both better work satisfaction and better pay. Which is very hard to find.
Business runs in families, it's a 100% risky proposition and indian society is still not very accepting to that fact.
Depends on aptitude of the individual, but one should always give a try if economic condition permits
My uncle is a specialist consultant. He recently finished his masters, after working for 1 month (good salary 1.5L) he took a break.
It's been 6 months, he hasn't returned to work. He wakes up at 11am-12 noon. He has a small home garden in backyard, he works with his plants till late noon, then cooks something, watches web series /Movies etc with no social contact (apart from social media). Cooks dinner & sleeps.. This lifestyle is satisfying for him & he's planning to start a plant nursery in a year(eventhough everyone in family is against it). He says he's frustrated with work so he wants a break..
Always prioritise your family + personal health over money. Never work extra hours, no matter what. No employer is loyal to you, so why should you be loyal to them?
There's an old saying - Health is Wealth
That's a vague suggestion imho..
For example, my doctor friend is a resident in a government hospital, they pay her 35k/month. Her work hours morning 7am till night 8pm, mon-sat.. 2 Sundays duty (one 7am-8pm, another Sunday 8pm-7am) apart from this 6 night duties (8pm-7am) in a month.. She's frustrated with work stress eventhough she likes the subject. When I ask her she tells she's doing this for her family future & by quitting she'll risk that..
Another friend is a trainee in a 5 star in Mumbai. Working like anything, meagre stipend. Says he's doing this for himself to secure future but he doesn't enjoy working like that..
give me an example of high paying frustrating job.
I am sure there are plenty.. Frustation is at individual level & is not generic
Paise ka chakkar babu bhaiya kabhi khatam nahi hota ...my uncle retired from a gazetted post and joined private sector even after 62 ....his family is shit and still he works .....peace of mind /family /money noone can have all of them ..so prioritize wisely
Now coming to happiness, its all subjective. I wasn't happy back in 2020, was cribbing in 2021 and now I felt that my current Company is piece of Shit. And previous ones were much better .... Still I find my happiness even after cribbing all day. But would be glad to move out even now ....
So as long as it balances out and you don't get stress physically, you should make it work.
One of the tragedies of us being a third world country is that we are always forced to choose money over passion. When a gifted painter works in a sales job or a talented singer works in customer care, all talents are wasted. Not only it creates disillusioned individuals, but also bad for the society because it lost a talented singer and painter.
I was deeply unhappy during my job though salary was good. Deep down I knew I was not very good which left me demotivated. It took me a lot of time to find what I truly like. It took even bigger courage to leave and say goodbye to that paycheck. Once that salary credit SMS stopped, I'd wake up drenched in sweat in the middle of the night wondering if I have made a blunder. Make sure your family is on board before you start chasing your dreams.
I struggled like hell when I started on my own, but even 12 hour days can still be fulfilling if you love your work. Slowly the wheels turned and my money worries went away.
Just find what you are truly good at and find a way to make it a career. Be ready to make huge sacrifices/compromises along the way, continuously improve and learn from your mistakes.
This is no 3 idiots Rancho BS, but one day money will be no object if you truly love what you do. The amount of freedom and work-life balance will be light years ahead of anything else.
Based on personal experience
if you dont mind
Would love to hear experiences from senior citizens who lived & seen many things in life!
Do you know any1 in this forum? @posiedon
But in 30s not in 20s , in 20s high paying jobs i would prefer
Till late 20's or mid 30's make as much as you can (ofcourse without exhaustion) but after that satisfaction as life starts taking different turns.
there is only 1 job which can give satisfaction but money runs away
I would appreciate if someone also mentions decent ways of making money online/offline along with sharing their experiences.
I am not asking for some get rich quick schemes just basic work that can be done for a few hrs to add to our income and not have a stressful time. Thanks in advance.
I would rather hustle bustle some 15 yrs as i am in IT and retire after that invest and earn instead of getting hectic with job
@aswaniexpress From India's Silicon Valley to Dalal Street.
@IndianDimer Not easy to find. Sometimes your hobbies can be a starter. Else, think about things where others need/value your advice/insight and work from there.
@SaveMoney69 Of course business. You already have an established platform and wealth of experience from family members as mentors. In my opinion, that's GOLD.
If your inclination is totally different from family business, then job. If you love history, then family business of medicine will suck when you join
Great. U mind sharing how you entered dalal St. & learnt the path without getting lost?
it is tough question.. it today world with increasing prices.. you have to sacrifice some percent of your personal life to earn money. that too if you are working in private sector. it is difficult to have work - life balance. May not be all the cases but I have seen few instances..
if you have job in govt sector or a sector with fixed timings (like bank job) I feel you will have time to spend with your family also..
More or less .., how are you investing / savings matters. a lot..
