Hello dimers,

My 3.4 years old kid has suddenly stopped drinking milk. There was no change in habit or timing.

Tried with sugar, bournvita too but he drank only once or twice and now same again…not drinking only.

How can we overcome this.

Pls help….

Lol biggrin

Bournvita sucks .. try mixing boost and see what happens. Still taking too much sugar is not recommended or better change the milk brand ( Try Amul Gold Box ). Mix it with boost and serve cold. At-least I like it when I get bored with taking raw whey.

Make the milk look like liquid chocolate not like brownish white .. you can use mixer grinder if you want. BTW, never tried on a child but I like it this way biggrin

Everything is poison in this polluted and corrupted world.. our body knows how to tackle it by filtering good and bad.. but only thing you should remember is nothing should be over consumed. Everything should be in limit.

You can ask him

Try to understand if he/she’s feeling uncomfortable after consuming milk.
Maybe she/he has lactose intolerance.
Most common symptom of it is gas/flatulence .
After 3-4 years our body stops producing less amount of lactase, the enzyme responsible for breaking down the unique ‘sugar’ found in milk -‘lactose’.
And in many cases our body starts producing so less amount of lactase that if we drink milk certain complexities will occur. That’s lactose intolerance.

I want to strongly recommend you, If your child does not want to drink milk don’t force him/her.
instead offer him/her cheese/curd.

I occasionally give cheese (melted in milk), when drinking milk is resisted.

Same is the case with my kid, she has stopped drinking milk since more than a year now (she just turned 4) and it’s fine don’t panic. She’s doing quite well, she loves eating curd so started giving that to her and she didn’t used to eat cheese but with time she started having cheese grill sandwich so giving that as well to her.
It’s a myth created by majorly the advertisement ran in our country since many years milk is necessary, in reality it’s good for vitamins and calcium that can be given via other sources as well.
Parent by giving milk avoid many other important food, I have seen parents not giving breakfast to their kids saying they had milk so it’s enough.

My kid drinks only milk and water. She does not like to eat solid food. The only solid food she have is ceregrow. Earlier she used to eat everything from rotis to rice, fruits, dry fruits, fast food when we were in Mumbai. Don’t know what happened now after we moved to Jaipur due to lockdown. Once in 3-4 days she eats a bite or two of roti. If somebody have any ideas how to make her eat solid food again, please share

Benevolent Benevolent

instead of milk, try giving her curd, preferably home made. Curd is better than milk in many ways and also easier to digest. Kids normally also pefer curd than milk.

She used to have curd. But from the last 3-4 weeks she is not even eating that

@Snikeus
you can also try soft halwa – a soft mixture cooked with suji, milk and sugar. keep the milk content higher to get the desired softness.

Good for him.

I don’t understand why humans drink milk of other animals. A cow’s milk is for her calf, not for humans.

Helpful Helpful

And most human beings are lactose intolerant. Milk is not easy to digest and is acidic in nature.

I also don’t understand the obsession or stupidity of Indian parents to force milk on their children for all their life. What’s the big deal if they don’t like to drink it?

There are many, many choices for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian people for protein and calcium.

Did you read the basic life science book like we all did in class 6 or 7? Cow milk is like a must for humans, especially babies.

Anyway, to OP, every kid fears something, just use that when she doesn’t want to drink. I love kids more than 99% people, I adore them, but these aren’t the times where you should pamper really. One or two days of crying screaming episode is worth it if you can put fear into her mind but that puts her right back on the milk drinking path.
