The government on Thursday, February 9, 2023, said lithium reserves have been found for the first time in the country in Jammu and Kashmir.
Lithium is a non-ferrous metal and is one of the key components in EV batteries.
"For the first time, lithium reserves have been discovered and that too in Jammu and Kashmir," Mines Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj said.
Upon exploration by the Geological Survey of India (GSI), lithium reserves have been found in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
🙇🏻♂️Almighty🛐 is omnipresent, omnipotent🤍.
Prime 'Friend' will get the mine
@kukdookoo @makdiman @dearajay
5.9 million tonn of Lithium inferred resources have been established in the Reasi district
If it's so large, why did it take so long for survey group to find? Feels like another fake news just like that tonnes of gold reserves found in UP.
Nice finally the kick Kashmir needed
Industrialists :
+1
I was also thinking this meme..
It was basically because it was cheaper to use them, so long as nobody cared much about the plight, general conditions in which the African labour, Asian labour engaged in those operations went through.
Having a 'potential' study and fructifying it into reality are two different things.
Even if the GSI study had enough merits, the terrain, geology and socio-economic factors of the region wouldn't exactly make it a cakewalk for any 'for profit' entity to sustain that mining, refining operations there for long.
■ Amongst all the disadvantages of lithium based batteries, the m9st troublesome for cargo carriers (airlines) and others alike.. is the high inflammable nature.
Thus sodium, salts, magnesium and other compounds are already being researched further to replace lithium sulphur batteries too.
■ The Tupolev Tu-144 for which the erstwhile Russian (USSR) state bore the costs, was done so as a matter of 'national pride'.
They were trying to beat the Concorde project.
(Even though concorde itself had a lot of compromises).
Thus it remains to be seen, if there really do exist commercially viable (worth exploiting) deposits and whether the costs of exploiting the same will be borne by the taxpayer (just to fulfill national pride) or whether any private entity, public-private partnership (PPP) special purpose vehicle (joint venture) would fancy taking this up.
Btw.. which battery tech seems to be future to you if not lithium based?
Kashmir has been the epicenter of knowedge and resources for centuries. All was lost due to constant looting and targetting by everyone. Mughals, British, Chinese and now Pakistan.
Can you cite sources on these?
Property kya hai lithium ka.. battery me hi suna tha pahle
Perodic table ke baad
Hmm, now Jammu and Kashmir's pristine environment will rest in peace. Damn, that's the same story for every mining area. Water, air, food gets polluted. I don't think people should be allowed to touch Jammu and Kashmir's environment. Lithium reserves are found, now people should forget about it.
You don't want coal mining but you want electricity at your home.
You want to produce batteries but don't want to mine Lithium. Decide first what you want ?
This could be just another surgical strike before elections 😅
Geological Survey of India has for the first time established Lithium inferred resources (G3) of 5.9 million tonnes in Salal-Haimana area of Reasi District of Jammu & Kashmir (UT).
Remember the below false claim by UP government? These govt offices got a knack for such misleading representation (even involving other agencies). Better wait for couple of days or weeks to find out the actual truth
According to the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and UP geology and mining directorate reports, gold reserves totalling 2,944 tonnes have been found in the Sona Pahadi and Hardi blocks of the backward Sonbhadra district.
2,900-tonne gold mine found in Sonbhadra, 4 times that of India's reserves
The GSI, headquartered in Kolkata, rebutted the claims of the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Geology and Mining (UPDGM), and said “miscommunication” must have led to the wrong reporting of facts.M Sridhar, director general of the GSI, said nobody in the agency gave any such data. He said 52,806 tonnes of gold ore was found in Sonbhadra district during the exploration work in 1998-2000. From this reserve, only 160 kg of gold can be extracted.
UP's claim of unearthing 5 times India's gold reserves refuted by GSI

One more similar incident related to gold reserves found in bihar, odisha and AP
time se share kharid lo....
We human beings are definitely moving in the wrong direction.
I am very much sure itna bada reserve mila h to mining bhi jarur hogi hi. J&K so far appears to me as one of the most naturally protected state ( jo bhi reason raha ho). I don't understand the hype about EV (koi yaha mera gyan badhae to main khus hounga), around 70% of India's Electricity generation is still dependent on coal. So even if we are moving from fossil fuel vehicle to EV's pollution pai jyada impact kaha pad raha h, bas itna pharak aaega ki sehear m pollution hone k wajai jaha power generation plant h udhar hoga. Itne thode se improvement k lie jo hmare desh k pas ek itna acha natural location h jisko tourism m kafi acha banaya ja sakta h usko mine karna chaiye ??
Do not know if you know this or not, but if one can manage dumping of the spent fuel and the heavy water,
eventually the costs of converting coal fired plants to nuclear powered plants would not be that high.
Even the U.S. this became a contentious issue, a few years back.
But basically it can be steam or falling/flowing water which can drive the turbine.
So replacing coal with nukes is not that difficult, on the basic level.
China and Western countries will soon give funds to our NGOs and environmentalists to stop lithium mining in Kashmir.
Later this matter will go on in the court for years.
So, are you guys now happy about this news ?
Pay the judge get the sanction
What is the price of lithium reserves ? @Rosh_0007
@Rosh_0007 why @bikidas2060 bhai's post are under moderation ??
For Policy violation. 😔 That's alright. 🙂🙂🙂
Better visit kashmir beauty before they decide on mining it.
All of us are here to get some offer or to get some good loots and these does not co related with environment, so stop showing that we care about are environment, what we care is our benefit and for every growth there is a cost associated with it and we have to bear it.
And that's why it's still "developing" and hdi is crap despite having one of the largest GDP.
Ppl's mentality has to change for god's sake.
Also world's highest Railway Bridge (Chenab Bridge) is in Reasi District of Jammu Province not in Kashmir.
And people here mentioning of Pakistan needs to know that the people of Reasi are hardcore Indians. Pakistan gets a lot of support from Kashmir province but never from Jammu province particularly from Jammu - Chenab belt. And Pakistan never mentioned of their intentions in Jammu Province. They are only trying for Kashmir because of support from Kashmiris.
...tou Pakistan Chale jaao.😠
Good move but zero emission mission needs to get postponed more after 2075. Or just make more refineries
G3 is for every newly found rare earth materials.

India to become super power soon
First everone should accept our money as trust and then our money should have value in any part of the world then only any country can become super power
"Adani Batteries" coming soon 😜
Desh ki taraki hogi
Lithium is called the new "White Gold" and this discovery is absolutely crucial not only for Indian EV market but also for reducing carbon emission.
Haha China and Pakistan must be fretting and their Over ground workers (OGWs) in India must be having loose motions hearing this news. I am sure these lowlife traitors and hopeless losers will oppose mining and try every trick to sabotage mining operations but eventually will fail miserably.
India is fast paced in development. Now more to go🥳🥳
Now real war starts in kashmir... Get ready for war
Very good... Khod do Kashmir ko bhi 😂
Yahaan Khuda, wahaan Khuda, jahaan nahin Khuda, wahaan kal khudega
