This comes after several commuters registered complaints with the transport department over Ola and Uber charging a minimum of Rs 100 even if the distance is below two kilometres. The minimum auto fare in Bengaluru is fixed at Rs 30 for the first 2 km and Rs 15 for every kilometre thereafter.

According to the department’s notice, ride-hailing companies have to stop their auto services at the earliest and also not to charge passengers in taxis more than the fare prescribed by the government. The department also warned of legal action if they fail to comply with the order.

Good. Either same rules for all or none. ₹100 minimum charge is ridiculous. But that’s just my opinion.

For 4km distance local autos charge 200 and sometime they demand 250 also just because the destination is IT Park  . None of the local auto person use meter anymore and ask fixed charge decided in their stand

Bengaluru always had different approach in each aspect. For ex, helmet compulsory for pillion riders which is not common in most of the cities. Let them do what ever they want. I guess these companies are not doing any harm, infact helping a lot of people.

What a scam this is. Not a single rickshaw person will agree to switch on the meter. Just another way to rob the common man.

Ola charges Rs 120 for 1 .5 Km from my home to metro.   And the same cost for 10 Kms.  I had thought Ola, Uber always charged meter rates, totally false. In a way good decision.

However, what about auto drivers? Bangalore auto drivers have forgotten the fact that there is meter in their auto.

A positive thing i noticed, whenever i am at railway station/bus stop trying to book auto to reach home in early morning, these autowalas gang up and beg to give them rates same as what is displayed on the ola/uber app.  Before ola/uber era they used to charge whatever they felt like.

Those commuters who reported are parasite. Once, if the ban is enforced, they'll complain that without online aggregators, local autowaalas are looting us

I generally have had good experiences with Auto in B'lore compared to chennai. It was few years back (5+) but Autos in B'lore used to be much cheaper and genuine than Chennai..
