Please suggest if Amex Platinum Travel card is good to apply. Share your referal.

Hi. I have already LTF Amex MCRR card. Sometimes I see upgrade option in my online amex account for Platinum travel card, however it also says your MCRR will become chargeable card if Travel card will be cancelled infuture. So I am holding for this upgrade.
But Cant I apply Platinum travel card directly (without the link in my account) so that it will not linked to my MCRR as “upgrade”. If Yes, then please suggest for following:-
(1) Can I refer myself for platinum card? If not, then share your referal link and let me know if you will share extra benefits with me (I will use referral link, which will give highest benefit to me).
(2) Is it good card in terms of benefits? I can see Flipkart voucher of 4500+7500=12000rs if spend 4lakh in a year. But do we get small shop offer, amazon/flipkart 10% discount etc too on this card (similar to mcrr). Can someone who has platinum travel card, can confirm?
(3) Have you tried to get fee waiver on platinum card, and if got successful, please suggest what was the criteria for the waiver?
(4) Is it possible to sell 10k Taj voucher which we will get after 4lakh spend (I might not able to use Taj voucher)?
(5) Any another better amex card to suggest.

It is no longer a good option.

Actually I was thinking same that actual devaluation is not significant and even there are better benefits now like redemption for international flights etc, than earlier. Same is mentioned in this blog..

I have this card from last year. With the renewal fees and the milestone rewards, it is not a rewarding card anymore. If you count in the offers round the year for bonus MR and Amazon/Flipkart 10% off on vouchers, it is a little better. But it is not worth it for me anymore. If they do not waive off the annual fees, planning to close the card this year.

Benefits are subjective to other cards that you have. Not too much for me.

Dont we get 4500+7500 flipkart vouchers if spend 4lakh in a year, for 5000+gst fees (and that can also be fully/partially waived, depends on customer care)?

@dealyogi how do you have a ltf card. I think they converted eveyone to min 150k spends.
Dojt forget you get 8K MR points on 4L spend. ~10K MR points are required for fee reversal. 2K bonus spend will come, so net net you get 3% flat +10k taj voucher which you can sell here. Good deal but depends on your spends. I don’t feel amex has a lot of offers. One card is enoug, which you have as MRCC. Unless you can use plat travel at places whwee you wouldnt get more than 3% from other cards you have.
My MCRR was LTF, based on corporate and Salary.
4.5K+7.5K FK voucher are the reason for which I am planning to apply this card. Moreover it would be free for first year if I will use referral link.
@caks2006407 Bro, dont you think 4.5+7.5=12k FK voucher is still better for an annual fees of ~5k (and chance of partial/full fees waiver too, however still not a show stopper)? Plus we are getting another offers too like Small shop, 10% FK/Amz voucher discounts etc.
Also most of the other cards are not giving reward points for wallet load, while Amex is giving..
Its not worth b’cos of annual fees and devaluation. Just redeemed last month for FK it was 5K+8K in Dec’20 now 4.5K+7.5K if FK gv option exists
You can sell Taj voucher(@MTRIP people ask for insane price so decided to use it self
Fee waiver looks impossible. Straightway I was told not possible.
And travel offers always exist so you can not sell points for travel also as people expect 15-20% discount on tickets.
Better spend these 4 lacs on another card like Axis FK or ACE or HDFC APayICICI…
I will close if they do not waive/compensate annual fee.
MRCC+SmartEarn combo best
I have this card since December 2017 and till now every year they waived off the annual fee by redeeming 10K points. This year it was done on 20th January, they also offered me fee waiver on spending 4L in next 90 days but I refused their offer which was not possible for me and redeemed 10K points against annual fee.
10K points equivalent to 7.5 FK voucher, right? So you compensated 7.5k FK voucher against annual fees of 5000+GST, right?
I haven’t paid fees for a long time now, currently hold MRCC+Charge card+Plat. Travel card (Amex allows you to hold 1 charge & 2 credit cards)
Fee waiver is dynamically decided based on your spend history. I got my fees waived off on Plat Travel card twice now. Although my friends who didn’t score much spends were able to forfeit 10K pts and get the fees waived off. Note that these 10K are not the bonus pts which can be redeemed for FK voucher, rather normal pts which at current cash value are 0.25p so altogether you only forfeit 2500 Rs., which isn’t that bad of an option

@dealyogi i also hold Amex MRCC as LTF and got same offer and applied for Platinum card. It talked to customer care and he confirmed that MRCC will remain LTF even if you close the Platinum card as it is general mail for everyone.
