I have had this debit card for 2 years now. Earlier it used to be salary account therefore no annual charges but now it costs me 750 + taxes each year. Should I keep this or go for the rupay version which is only 250/- annualy? I have a platinum rupay debit card from another bank.

Don’t go for debit card at all. Only use the one you already have.

I already have this card and they are charging 750 annually. The only feature is 1 percent cb on spends which I already have credit cards for.

oh ok. Got you. Don’t want to do away with the debit card altogether as sometimes cash is needed urgently and having multiple debit cards helps then

Then its a no brainer. Chose the cheapest one as credit card RPs are way more lucrative than debit card.

I changed it to the rupay card for 250. Not only does this card give very low points they also charge you a lot for it and it comes by default without you even requesting it. But now I find rupay card is not so accepted for everything. Well it is but some places still have trouble.

You can do all this online.. someone here helped me to find the options in netbanking to do it.

Without debit card you can’t use UPI also I guess. To generate/reset UPI pin you need debit card.

It seems they dont have ATM cards now. So how do you get cash? Also most ATM only valid for branch machines.

Yea. Just wanted a second opinion from someone who has been using this, if there are other benefits to this card that I am not aware of?

None as such. I have EasyShop Platinum debit card by HDFC and rarely use it since they stopped giving me RPs for adding money in Airtel payments bank.

But each debit card has a daily withdrawal limit. In case of an emergency where you need cash and there’s no other alternative, it helps to have debit cards(atleast 2)

As it’s free of cost so didn’t think of replacing it yet. I still have 115 RPs and waiting to make them 250 and encash then and then may think of replacing it

I too want to do the same. I have the Visa Platinum card from HDFC and I want to go for the cheapest debit card from them.

I found this card of no use. Will change it in coming 2 months when I leave my job and it won’t be a salary account.

I hope I can do this online.

You’re a prime customer because of the salary account you held in the past with them. If you’re not getting your salary there and it’s still 0 balance account then no harm in keeping it active.

After leaving the job and this account no more being salary account, will they charge for not maintaining minimum balance?

No worries. I can also think of replacing this debit card now.

BTW, if we replace debit card with any other variant and earn RPs on that card then they will not be added in existing RPs?

Dont you mean its useless to keep it?

You are saying it is worth keeping here. But they will start charging 750 annual charges for it with no benefits as such.

Your points go away when you change cards? I didnt know before I ordered the rupay card. Then got a message my card will be disabled. Not sure why they do that since they are charging for the cards and I still had 6 months left paid for on the old card.
