….I am thinking of buyin new DTH connection in Delhi….

…PLease suggest according to these criterion…..

…1…Primary thinking behind the change is to try to use DTH schemes by various companies….

…2….Payment of small denomination should be accepted online….

…3….No compromise with Star sports 1,4 and Ten action ….

Been using tata sky (SD) from around 3 years, Earlier it was very fast but from the past 6 months it has become very very slow. Sometimes It takes like effin 5 seconds for the menu to pop up. Haven’t ventured into any other brands but cousins in rajkot are using videcon and are happy with it. Videocon’s pros are cheaper channel packages. Recently got a call from tata sky team stating they are offering replacement for our old set top box with new HD set top box with 1month free dhamaal package + HD fee for 1 month for 1100.

Lol….1100?

You can get new connection for 1100 from also seller.

Just found that videocon has better facilities like USB, 4K upgradation etc.

Tatasky takes 2-3 seconds to switch between channels,I am fed up of this – is it happening with everybody or there is some issue with my new MPEG4 set top box? If yes then I will be changing to videocon else will fight with cs to get my set top box replaced

Called up seller and used google forums to his more info on Videocon….

Finally understood DD is best place. https://cdn0.desidime.com/Placeholders/No-Image-Available.png

Now stuck with two choices.
Tata Sky VS Videocon

Anther pro to it is that all HD channels have dolby digital surround sound activated on them

now for the con –
Videocon doesn’t have any buttons on their set top box !!
so just in case ur remote goes down , u can’t change any channels
but the support is really good they provide a replacement remote within 8 working hour to you
N u Can’t find duplicate remotes for their set top boxes !!

Can any post the cost of replacing remote in videocon

And it’s available in Amazon for 550 appx.
That’s very costly.

We drop remotes very frequently …Tata Sky remotes are very cheaply available online and offline.

Which way? legal or illegal?

Legal: Yes, every DTH service providers are providing option to use 4 STB in one single main(parent) connection and cost for 2nd,3rd and 4th connection is less than 1st(main-parent) connection see this: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

And also ask local cable operator they also providing. In my city-Ahmedabad GTPL cable providing 2nd connection at 50% off means if if you have one parent connection that costs 300 per month and if you buy 2nd child connection then price will be 150 per month for same package.

Illegal: 2-3 years ago it was possible in local cable but after Digital set top box arrived, you can’t do it. Don’t know if still possible

Few Reasons Going for Tata Sky but Not Videocon
1) Local Review – Surrounding Neighbors etc.
2) Take HD Tata Sky Box, but you can recharge with SD Packs Also…(NOT Available in any other DTH Provider-afaik)
3) Fast Browsing between channels(Important) – Than all brands..
4) Local dealers and local service available.
WIll add more https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif (if i find)

Add one more and important point if rain is more in your city- tatasky’s signal strength is very good compared to others(what I’ve heard from relatives using it) and definitely it should have become more strong after latest MPEG 4 migration- so overall less rain disturbance.

Let make up differences between Tata Sky and Videocon.

1) Videocon has USB option to record tv.
2) Upgrade to 4K in future is a available. Don’t know about Tata sky.

Pls add up.

Tatasky is the 1st to lauch 4k settop box in India

http://tech.firstpost.com/news-analysis/tata-sk...

Videocon is 2nd, but first to launch 24 hr 4k channel.

tata sky HD fee is increased to 175 per month as compared to 125 earlier months .

Recording can be done with some alternative.. ( if recording is costing more than expected , look at ebay )

Yes. Rs.100 is one time and Rs.30 per month.
You should note that, the recorded videos are encrypted and can only be played using Set top box and not with computer.

Also, in Videocon D2H, if you are paying for subscription say for 1 year, the price increase during that 1 year, will not affect you. For example, one month south silver pack is 202 today. You bought a package for 1 year. After 3 months, the price of south silver pack is increased to 220 then it will not reduce number of days remaining for your a/c. However, if you change your pack or add/remove any channels, the price will be recalculated with current pack price. When you pay any amount to your a/c the calculation will be: Amount you paid / pack price per day.

Also, Airtel has some sort of wallet option with D2H. When you can pay the amount will be added to wallet and later you can renew using that wallet amount with monthly/quaterly/yearly packs. By this way you can earn long term recharge benefits (pay for 1 year and enjoy another 30 days). This option is not available in Videocon or tata sky.
