Vodafone Idea Will Not Hesitate in Raising Tariff Prices Ahead of Airtel and Jio
Back in December 2019, Vodafone Idea (Vi) was the first telecom operator to raise prepaid tariff prices which was followed by Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio as well.
A new Livemint report now states that Vi will not ‘shy away’ from raising tariff prices again first ahead of the top two telcos.
Ravinder Takkar, the CEO of the company, opined that the ‘current price levels are unsustainable.’
He also added the industry should look at Rs 300 ARPU in the long run.
Alongside Vodafone Idea CEO, Bharti Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal, also stated that the “industry cannot continue to function at the current prices for voice and data services.”
Since we last saw the tariff hike a year ago, the next one could be right around the corner. In addition to that, the Trai could soon set a floor price for voice and data in the country.

Airtel Says 512 Kbps Fair for Broadband Connection
Broadband Forum India (BIF) recently responded to the consultation papers floated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) for updating the definition of minimum internet speed from 512 Kbps to 2 Mbps for a broadband connection.
But Bharti Airtel believes that there is no need for updating the definition as of yet. The telecom operator has said that 512 Kbps internet speed is fair for an internet connection to be recognised as wired broadband. The telco has submitted to Trai that the existing definition of wired broadband internet in the country is apt for the time being.
Airtel noted that most other countries have set the minimum broadband internet speed threshold to 256 Kbps. Thus 512 Kbps in India is not a bad number at the moment.
The telecom operator also cited many examples supporting its claim including downloading files, website browsing, streaming services, video conferencing, audio content and more
The telco said that 512 Kbps speed on a wired broadband line is adequate for video conferencing

Airtel Will Watch Industry First Before Hiking Tariff Prices: Sunil Mittal
He also believes that Airtel cannot move ahead. “…current tariffs are unsustainable but Airtel cannot move without the industry moving or the regulator moving.” Furthermore, he added that the country’ second-largest telecom operator would watch the market conditions for hiking the tariff prices.
V! Will defintely increase price & lakhs of customers will port out…so jio & airtel will capture these customers & wait for TRAI setting up floor prices
Let Vodafone die…Jio is still hungry for subs..not so easy to raise tariffs
Today I have placed port out request for last number belonging to Vodofone in family..
