But why ?
Many apps do the same.. ask SMS permission for UPI registration then start reading all SMS info (CRED, Mobikwik etc.)
I have got rid of most. Mobikwik was 2-3 years back. I have even stopped using Paytm. I have my fast tag balance in paytm, that’s why its still installed. Right now I have amazon pay, gpay and phonepe. I dont think amazon/flipkart would dare to misuse messages like that though it may read to understand shopping habbits. google already has everything.
Let me do 1 better, leave a 1 star on playstore
i uninstalled already 6 months back,its waste n useless
Mostly agree. There are few uses though like dues of all cards in 1 place. Sometimes card specific offers are also there. The rewards though reduced drastically are still better than nothing. It was only inevitable they start misusing the amount of data access they have gathered which at the moment no one else have.
Install apps like Cred, Freecharge, BB,PB (+ other credit score apps), PayLater / loan apps on a secondary phone (If you got one*)
Unless the approval ( CC via PayLater ) itself is based on the information gather via transactional SMS or phone contacts, there’s no point in giving them any extra financial information (Bank balance, Credit+Debit transactions)
After UPI registration is complete SMS permission can be revoked and the app doesn’t seem to nag about it.
You will be amazed by the speed at which CRED reads all your SMS to gather the CC due details. Just give permission for a second and revoke it immediately. All the CC data in CRED gets updated.
I have mostly stayed away from all these paylater features/apps and I think I did right after listening to so many horror stories last year when govt banned these apps. Most of the apps I have already uninstalled and consolidating the card usage to 1-2 cards most of the time. I dont run after new user offers (stopped 6-7 years back). I plan ahead my fixed expenses and make use of the best available offer at the time. I dont regret if there’s a better offer and dont overspend which I cannot pay. I don’t buy on EMI/no Cost EMI and abstain rather than getting excited at “never before price/discount” offers.
Op to Cred…
They picked your accounts from SMS.. disgusting.. great job
Nowdays apps using whatever info they want.. without our concern
So what is your alternative after getting rid of cred and mobi.
It won’t matter if you remove access to email now. They will always have access to your email and card due date, expenses in card etc. For a good 2-3 years
I use cred and it does not have access to my emails. Only sms access. Probably its gecause i havent activated cred protect. I know because icici sends my statement on email as per billing cycle and tge sms comes only 14 days later, 7 days prior to dye date and cred is clueless till the sms arrives
Sorry the image is too blurry , why did u uninstall cred?

Now-a-days every android is data and internet hungry…
As soon as you are done with application uninstall it or atleast goto app info—> permissions —> revoke all permissions you feel are not required for app functionality
If you have permission manager in settings it’s one place to revoke permissions for each application
All your email data in on Google computers including OTP, mobile gets life from Google
privacy has no value; CRED has not troubled me so far with any sort of spam and makes CC bill payments sweet; if it reads SMS/emails its their time waste not mine Perhaps I have not installed in primary ph
anyways good job u did
I only pay HDFC card payments via cred these days and others I pay directly via HDFC BillBay.. I get 1% cashback on Debit Card. Cred gives less than .2%. I can let go of this .2% also without sweat
Nothing is time waste….Data is the new Oil…remember that brother
Good job, now remove the sim and destroy it and you have touched the divine.
disable all permissions except phone!
Cred ka ad dekha hai kitna shooff hai itna paisa kaha se aayga?
Nothing comes for free, if cred is giving you points for just using its portal, they are earning from the data your share….
jo itne rewards milte hai or refer n earn ka 750..wo ese hi thodi na ayega.. 😂
Customer ka pura data sell krenge or pesa hi pesa hoga
Everyone company is their to earn
Why will CRED be left behind ?
Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple or be it any other mobile network company.
Sab k pass apna data hai , and they use it to customise their features, offers and action plan for future.
Choice is completely customer’s, use or delete.
Best question is can some get rid of Google or Apple ?
Yes. You can Google the guide as well. But you’ll have to adjust and sacrifice the comfort of many things .
newer android 10/11 has the option to automatically revoke permissions from apps if it’s not in use while you are in app. They can’t just lure in your data.
use iphone. they have no access to sms
Got call from cred and the guy sounded a bit worried. I have met personally a few of the cred employees a couple years back and they are mostly youngster techies in early 20s. He said they don’t store the information that they displayed and if I just disable sms permission, it would disable the payment options that I saw. I wasn’t convinced and he said he would ask his team to remove the feature. I bluntly said I did not feel comfortable with what they did and have uninstalled the app. I don’t plan on installing again and disconnected.
Use OneScore app. It shows civil and experian. No spams. Nice UI.
Can anyone tell me what is bad about CRED? I use it only to the pay credit card bill. I use iphone so I am sure I must have declined all unnecessary permissions.
Nice 👍
