I booked a uber ride. 3 drivers cancelled the ride by calling me and asking the drop location. Finally got the 4th cab. This driver also asked me the drop location and came. Finally got a chance to give 1 star to the 4th cab. Request you all to provide 1 star to cab drivers who come to pickup after asking the drop location.
I had planned to book cab well ahead of time as I know this kind of shit happens with the cabs. Wondering how many would have struggled because of this kind of shit service provided by uber.

When they ask you for location 99% chance they will cancel
This is a daily affair in Delhi
also in delhi – gurgaon route
my incident was a bit different-
After 2-3 tries one driver came and said he will not go to desired location but can drop me at nearest metro and agreed in 50rs . But what happened is ride got cancelled (dont knw how and why) and he asked me to pay extra 100 rs for cancellation , started arguing and locked the car doors from inside and threatened me that he will call the police .
Finally paid him total 100rs and left away
This incident is of 5-6 years back
Especially during night or if you have to cross Delhi border
Ola Drivers are 2 steps ahead not only do they ask for drop location they also ask payment mode, then ask to pay cash or upi to them instead of paying through ola.
Absolutely Right. I had to go through this situation several times, while returning back from office at 11:00 PM – 12:00 AM in Jan-March 2021. Especially when you’re mentally stressed out due to work and this kind of shit is not tolerable but don’t have a choice when your office is not near to the main road. This is nothing new but no solutions to such problems, writing emails / escalation did no good to Uber / Ola
Whether we like it or ain’t, the drop location / payment type info requests have now become an (unofficial) integral part of Uber and Ola services.
the drivers go on a cancellation spree and sometimes I wonder if there is no accountability or so to keep a check on the number of cancellations a driver can do in a day?!
Anyways, occasionally when I am not in the mood to go through all this hoopla, I directly ping via the in-chat service the drop location right after the driver is allocated, so that he can cancel it if he doesn’t have the feels for the drop location. bcoz usually it takes driver a few minutes to decide & call me, then some more time to have a friendly discussion on the call on why they can’t do the pickup and some more more time before they cancel the ride & some more more more time if they weirdly expect us to cancel the ride instead of them doin’ it. And life goes on!!
In some cases they call and ask for drop location and then done come and doesnt even cancel.
So its the user who has to cancel so none of their metrics are impacted.
these big tech have no accountability and thats why these kind of things happen
there should be proper online complaint system where lack of service should be fined
They don’t have customer care number or its all not helpful at all
If it is me, I would be happy to wait for my turn (confimed ride after a series of cancellation) than travel with a disgruntled driver.
This is difficult when you are booking for a relative or you are more than 1 rider
Happens a lot with me. Anyone having lower than 4.8 is usually not good.
Unless the drivers are punished by giving less rides for a month because of too many cancellations, they continue doing this shit. As I once enquired them and found out that there are N number of options for drivers to cancel the ride without getting penalised.
Another trend is after enquiring the location, they come to pickup and ask us permission to cancel booking so that the ride can be fulfilled offline and get paid by bypassing Ola/Uber 20% Fee structure.
I agree with such requests only if my booking is without any promos/cashbacks.
Giving bad rating to last driver was a bad choice OP
Complain about first 3 and do not penalize the driver who dropped you
I clearly mentioned, 4th cab driver also asked me for drop location. Evey driver has his own preference for drop location. We need to give 1 start for who ever asks drop location and comes for pickup. Hope that makes sense.
There is no option to complain the drivers who cancelled the ride. The data is on uber systems and they have to take action.
Tell them fairly far location they might be tempted to earn more money. And then when u board they wont have the choice to drop u at your desired location 😂 or waste the time reaching u.
Uber has been great for us. Rides (even auto) arrive in 2-3 minutes.
Not once have they asked about destination
Even they come inside building if asked
I think you are on Mars. Just kidding
Cancelation due to drop location is frequent. Especially when it rains in Bangalore, no bus and no ola/uber.
Asking cash instead of ola/uber channel is understandable during this petrol price hike. These companies haven’t increased the fares and they are deducting their commissions also.
Prefer Quickride instead of ola/uber. Usually office guys offering their vehicle empty seats at nominal pricing.
I don’t agree with statement on asking cash. I think they are doing to avoid tax. Normal salaried person gets salary every 30 days only. Why they need money in hand daily.
I have used frequently in both Chennai & Bangalore….. Uber is shit in Chennai… Every driver asks for cash and drop location… I cheat them easily by selecting cash mode and apply uber credits so that it will come to 0… I will show ! after end of ride if they scream bout cash … It’s pretty smooth here in Bangalore…. Prob is demand is heavy most of the times
Can’t believe 33% voted yes. These days the service is so worse. Not a single driver agreeing for online payment.
Same shit happened to mee also, but situation was bad i was going to exam centre back then from station, 3 4 rides cancelled.
One shit guy even ignored that he was my ride(he was dropping someone luckily near me only so i saw him) even though i was sure on his vehicle number in my app.
Sad to hear. Hope these people would learn a lesson one day.
Just for these idiots’ sake, I hope there’s Lockdown x 3 so they are left in the lurch with a begging bowl.
They should compensate the customer if the driver cancels and drivers should be charged for this
