Having been member for 11 yrs here, i bought & tried all dam products that apeared cheap from DD links. It was exciting then. Now i feel there is nothing left to try & test ( excitement lost) and even essentials that we buy everyday for our needs are jacked up online.

When i step outside i feel we are getting better products ( durable as well as less price) outside.

How many senior dimers feel this way and diverted to Discussion forums 😀

For grocery I find Dmart much better, for fruits whenever I order online using zepto Amazon swiggy country delight or whatever, when the item gets delivered I always feel if I have seen this actual item I would never have ordered it.

Unriped fruits , less quantity, water melons are like white melons.

I have started buying them completely offline now, much happy and informed about what I am buying

We are getting old unfortunately. I'm loosing interest in everything literally even buying new smartphone or laptop or tv doesn't give me happiness. Everything feels saturated to me! I don't know why but I used to get excited when i was in my college days. I remember very well how i used to count every tick tick of clock whenever something new used to arrive at my home. I don't feel the same now. I have lost my interest in movies also, they don't seem to be fit into my world. Youtube has now become the past memories of old songs, honestly, I think , I'm getting bored with my life as i am left with nothing to do now. Childhood days over, teenager days over, school life gone, college days gone, I'm only left with my job now and this will be continue until i hit my 60s or 70s.

I still live with my parents and just wants to hold them tighter in my arms till the time comes. That day, I shall lost hope! It feels like it was yesterday, watching the power rangers, ben 10 after returning back from the school. It was fun back then!

Agree. But when we know what the product is and told them showed and explained them what it is, how it works, even kids are not excited by seeing the products.

I will explain. Just take raspberry. I have zero,1,2,3 b+, 4. Excitement stopped here. A few projects that i did showed to kids. They are kind of OK good.

When one is in decent metro, live in decent society their summer camps might have already killed their Excitement as they are used to robotics right at the age of 8.

Breadboards, chips, robotic arms etc are common now in kids and they just do it mechanically , which i felt super excited when introduced at the age of 28. If one has been to US visted microcenter kind of shops seen kids above 10 buying stuff which was then introduced to us , we might felt wow. Now samething here in India in past 10yrs.

I felt most of decent settled family kids moved beyond this. I see no Excitement in them like me.

Comparing here kids who have seen things at early age also lost interest 🤔 in them like me.( i meant 90% kids)

So is it age factor or something else.

Now generation moved from smoking cigarettes,  drinking beer 🍺 to , something more dangerous for Excitement. I am just trying to draw comparison,  if you can follow 90 kids.

Agree. Since the scale of online purchases gone up they forgot that there is something called customer care.

Amazon front end, logistics,  deliveries are managed by different vendors now.

So they dont work in sync and dont care about each other.( offtopic but just wanted to share)

i remember in 2015 to 2018, if i see my item arriving early and requuest amazon cc for delivery , they used to arrange delivery. Now cc itself is pathetic.

Online sale is not just about pricing but a lot more on convenience and possible comparisons

I am excited on a purchase , as each one of them I considers or prefers to consider as sent by

an unknown friend , and is actually the  something I wanted someone to gift me earlier but was not

fortunate enough to receive earlier.

Exactly to put in words the unknown friend turned foe for genuine buyers and if not lucky will turn to nightmare.

I was happy with fk & az as long as i am lucky.

The streak of orders made me unlucky and i started to find companions here in dd discussions, otherwise i used to call them "lachrymose" until such time.

I cannot confirm or deny, but i feel the quality of products gone down drastically due to price war.

Everyone started platform specific models. More models , more confusion.

I suspect a lot of counterfeit products are delivered when we shop online. Happened with Surf Excel detergent powder and liquid. From then, I too lost interest in online shopping

Your post made me check my online order history and I realised that I don't buy much from online anymore. Just a few niche things which are tough to find offline, books and medicine. That's about it. Here for the discussion, same as you.

Clothing , grocery , fruits , footwears all are look and feel items , it quite difficult to gauge the quality without proper look and feel that's where online lacks ...Almost all grocery , fruits and most clothing , footwears are offline purchase after few not so good experiences

Member since 2011, but still I find good deal on DD, .... Somewhat it's true that we find better item outside but these deals are always good who are living in small town or village. In Delhi like place, every market is there and in cheap prices as well.... For electronics go lajpat rai market, for mobile parts go gaffar, for daily items go sadar bazar, for sarees, kurti go chandni chowk.... And so on. But still, sometime I find loot in DD.... 🤪

Not sure about all deals. But yeah grocery items are available cheaper offline nowadays with additional bank/card offer at POS.

Also get a good time to spend time with family during these days/hours.

One of the reasons for online shopping drop is due to fake/counterfeit products being sold and strict return/replacement rules from Ecom.

Having recently shifted from Tier 1 (Delhi) city to Tier-2 but a swanky city, I realize that prices online are better than what I get here.

Also, many items in the correct spec arent available offline which I can easily get online.

Bhai! I have not lost interest in life. But i nolonger count clock ticks for deliveries or new things does not excite me.

I care for kids and spending time with them ease me out.

I still enjoy infant smiles, their cute talks ( though my kids grown beyond). Kids who fantasies and entertain.

Holding tight to your parents,  how lucky you are. But believe me when your kids grow up your love towards your parents turns to respect and the world looks different. I think everyone will feel this personally than reading or explaining cannot have that feel.

Suddenly the stories that you read and felt OK looks life lessons.

Its individual experience.

Though i spoke personal, my only thing to say is

The deals are not motivating me to buy. This does not mean deals are nolonger there. I sometimes post such things as i feel ppl coming here should continue this and more ppl should benefit out of this. I have been a member of slickdeals in US and dd started in similar fashion.

Slickdeals or SD fetched more , especially with diapers, infant milk, costco, sams club discounted memberships. They even help to find stock when opted for store pickup which is almost thin here in India. That will give touch feel and return/replacements are great there.

Here in india it started well now its doomed.

agree but times have changed & will keep changing.

Cloud warehousing will remove the supermarkets as commercial rents are crazy & migrants from villages stop working for peanuts or demand high salary or may be removed by tesla bots altogether.

online is the future & its here to stay

my parents used to complain if roti was not fresh & piping hot.

Now even a cold roti is a dream with all the money in the world as they are the mercy of house help

With internet & cost of living crisis the next generation of farmers will educate their kids in data science & AI.

So India will import food from Africa & population will eat it regardless its quality as there is no other option.

Man, this was my nightmare which you have written and can be witnessed in NA & EU.

This is what i have been trying to avoid atleast in india. When i visit certain villages,  they look modern but lost their grace. Some in India are still lively oozing out their oomph factor.

Lets pray we develop but without killing the livelyness.

Yeah! My writings, as someone said above , shows signs of age 😞

I am 40+, so you can call me old.

It's been a while since I have found anything interesting to buy. Even when I have made purchases, I did so because they were inexpensive/on sale and I could afford them without worrying about finances. And most of the time, I do not even use them beyond the first few days. My Amazon and Flipkart are full of products that I had purchased and then cancelled. Flipkart order section is fully cluttered with these cancelled orders. Flipkart has issued a warning that my cancellation rate is too high and they may suspend my account and more recently they announced a 1000 INR fee for cancellation 24 hours after the purchase to recover the shipping costs. The only two purchases that give me any pleasure are two subscriptions - annual subscriptions of Spotify Premium and Storytel Unlimited. They are close to 1200 INR each and give me much more pleasure than Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar, JioCinema and 14 other OTTs (that I am subscribed to through JiofFber) ever give me. My wife consumes those series and keeps on recommending me quite a few. I haven't watched any of those yet. I watch the first innings of IPL matches these days while having a slow dinner and very rarely watch the second innings (probably watched four till date). I am not crazy about any of the teams. I absolutely like a podcast which you guys may try: https://open.spotify.com/show/4NZWQf0wUsaT0tO9....

Watch "uploads" series with peace of mind without breaks and distractions. It tells you a different story. Even if you watch 5-6 episodes,  rest you can leave it to your imagination,  though actual go beyond ours.
