I had bought shoes for my parents, a dress for my sister. I had taken a Nature’s subscription for myself. It was my childhood dream to have a subscription of nature. Then I had bought bourneville chocolates for my flat mates. But most of them denied to accept it. They kept demanding me for chocolates. But when I bought for them, suddenly they chickened out. 😔😔😔 It took a lot of convincing. So, I anticipated similar move from my roommate. But Shoaib bhai was very happy for his 10₹ Munch. It was a weird experience. Then I proceeded to buy PowerAmp for my phone as everyone was super excited for it. But sadly my phone didn’t support it. It was double whammy for me. Within four days of receiving my salary, half of it was gone. A big chunk of the remaining half was gone for my rent. So, the rest 26 days was super challenging for me. I tried skipping meals. But it didn’t work out. I tried to board busses without any tickets with moderate success. Frankly my parents were lenient with me at that time. So, big lesson was learnt. If you are a salaried person then don’t act like a billionaire. 🙂🙂🙂
Almost after a decade, I would like to ask the same question, which I faced up on receiving my first paycheck, “Why did you do/what do you want to do with your first salary?”

In 2014, things like brokers etc were a bit easier. I can remember HDFC gave me two years access to HDFC securities for free. My friends had accounts with Sharekhan. I was getting mails about Zerodha. Finally I had a brief encounter with an agent who sold me useless insurances but no mutual funds. 😔😔😔 A sob story indeed. Overwhelmed with selfish demands from my friend, work related things n transition into a self dependent lifestyle, I had completely forgotten that there exist something beyond it. I wish I had started some SIPs, I wish I had bought some stocks. I will blame myself for these. I chose wrong friends. 🙂 That’s the common problem with people coming from a relatively calm, sober, peaceful and small state like Odisha. These are my post Durgapuja hangover thoughts. I am very sad today. I am feeling sad because, long festival season is already halfway. After 15days Diwali will be gone. Then I ll come newyear. But I have to wait for another year for these days to come. 😔😔😔 Time moves pretty fast n I am really really feeling weak n sad.
Tip
1) Don’t get lured by credit cards n over draft facilities of debit cards.
Bought FD.
Still a long way to get a salary 😏🙂😉
I donated part of first salary to temple as per my Mom’s wish. Gave party to my friends.
Guys who get a new job dont make this mistake- Spending lavishly coz its your salary and u gonna work for 25+ yrs… Instead invest and keep money safe..
Remember the earlier you start investing.. The earlier u gonna retire
