During one TV interview of Dr. Naresh Trehan (if you don’t know him please search wikipedia)

he said you should have all kinds of oils from ranging from palm oil onwards. each has its distinct properties and advantages for heart and health.

As far as i know.
raw oil for salads : extra virgin olive oil. loses its properties on heating
deep frying : soyabean oil / palm oil which has a high burning point that all other cooking oils.
regular daily veg : rice bran oil (some people don’t like its green colour)/ sun flower oil.
special occasion veg : groundnut oil (since its twice expensive than sun flower oil).

There are many companies claiming omega 3 and what not in sophisticated cooking oil. But to believe them or not is an individual judgement.

Extra virgin olive oil is good but we cannot live on it everyday.

The main thing to keep in mind is to not eat too much of any oily food. But don’t avoid oil completely as the body needs it too.
Normal quantities of any food is ok in my view irrespective of whichever oil you use.
