from past couple of days, my Docomo 3G SIM is connecting to “IND Airtel | TATA DOCOMO” network causing the connectivity to unreliable and drops down many times. Has anyone faced similar issues ? Why is it being done ?

but for consumers they are saying Docomo SIM works as is. No need to change to Airtel SIM.
For using data?? select Airtel 3G in manual network selection.. things will work fine.. may face calls issue.
yes for data only.
how ?
@Mr.Bean As Airtel and Tata Docomo are going to merge in near future or Airtel fully acquiring Tata 4 million customers, Intra Circle Roaming has been agreed upon by Airtel for Tata Docomo GSM customers. So you can manually choose any one of them so as to get rid of auto-switch. Remember you won’t get charged for either calls/data on Airtel network.
Anyways, Tata offered me 1GB/day and unlimited calls for 14 days @Rs. 28 only so I did for fun and to test network speed. On Tata getting 2-3 Mbps which is same when I last used it in 2015 and if I select Airtel 10-12 Mbps on 3G on constant basis as Airtel network at my place is too good. Currently having offer of Rs. 349 for 90 days unlimited calls + 1GB/day on same number but as I am happy using Jio, won’t take it.
but they didn’t offer me any such plans. Also i am not seeing 90days @ Rs. 349 plan either.

docomo has latched on airtel for calling as well as data .
but if i roam in Delhi , will i be charged for calls as well as Data ?
Because Tata Docomo has been acquired by Airtel. Network integration is in progress
