OS Drive © is HDD?
If Yes.. then get an SSD
Also .. check the ram usage whenever there is noticeable lag (Via Task Manager)

So.. one drive – two partitions
5400RPM drives are strictly only for storing media. If you have got a 7200RPM drive then install OS on it and check the performance (I use it for installing games*)
And the best option would be getting an SSD and install just OS n important apps in it and use 750GB drive for media storage

Like everybody suggested, move to SSD. You will see visible difference.
2nd, check task manager and try to find which process is using most of the CPU / RAM.
Check what services are running at start-up, if you find any unnecessary services, disable that.
Chrome also sometime cause very high load. There are many things to check.

Thanks @_Munna_michael_ Few more questions before I order Samsung SSD: I am assuming this is internal, not external one. Any way to confirm before placing order that this SDD is compatible with my laptop? Would it be placed in same socket where my current HDD is, can I do it at home via screw driver or it require experts?

And what is this cloning from hdd to ssd? I have licensed Windows OS, have prepared a installation pendrive, can use the same pendrive to install on SSD and Win OS license is mapped to firmware and authenticated online, so I am ok to do fresh install. Mine is Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 (5.6") laptop

@worldindia2000@

Buy ssd and encloser which i share above these are best…

Now follow these steps you can do yourself-
Step 1) – download samsung official cloning app https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/...
Step 2) – put your ssd in enclosure and open cloning app and follow simple steps to clone your hdd to ssd, this is very simple
Ps. Cloning means your whole laptop apps ,data, windows etc. Will be copied to your ssd with this app.. see some YouTube video for more guide..
Step 3) – after cloning successful , just see here in your owner manual https://cutt.ly/k...op from 19 to 25th page … just remove some screw and replace ssd ..

Voila , you are done…

And now place your old laptop hdd in enclosure and format it after sometime and use as external storage and your laptop with ssd now works as fast as bullet train 🥳🥳

If u have dvd writer… Go to computer shop they will replace with SSD easily in Dvd Writer Slot. Try NVME SSD Its Very Fast Than Compared To Normal SSD.

Intel 3rd gen. platform doesn’t support NVMe.
Plus in general workloads even a high-end NVMe drive struggles to distinguish itself from a decent SATA SSD.

@worldindia2000 you can also install ssd in CD driver place (with use of caddy). Do cloning of your C drive in SSD, and in bios Choose SSD for OS.
What’s say @_munna_michael_ ?

Some laptop OEMs used to limit the DVD drive to just SATA I. This would severely bottleneck SATA III drives. HWInfo and the like should yield the requisite info.

Can you guys please tell me the reason why my pc sometimes lag like on normal browsing on chrome (I generally have 5-10 tabs open) and sometimes I open my live terminal in market hours (this software uses too much ram I suppose).
Then I quickly restart my pc and again start working when I really don’t have anything to do.
PC specs:
1st I3 processor
6gb DDR3 ram (1333mhz)
240gb SanDisk SSD plus one normal HDD with Zebronics MB (M51 socket I suppose)
Awaiting your valuable feedback.

If this is like my dell , the HD is inside a slot that can be changed without opening the case. Just slide out the HD and slide in the SSD. For some reason when a HD gets full like more than half the space is used up, it becomes very slow. All the small files also take up a lot of time to load. A cache helps immensely. But the data has to be loaded which will take time. I think it only has USB2 so adding an external HD etc would be very slow, better to replace the DVD with a caddy to add in the HD but this is not easy.. Opening the case causes many problems. Even the pros who did mine did not check that the memory card slot functioned after wards.. And also the DVD gets stuck now.. But I swap the HD’s often since its just sliding the panel open and replacing the HD.

I have same Dell – Inspiron 5520

Same configuration as yours.

I bought a Crucial SSD – 256GB

Installed it by myself with help of youtube videos.

Now my laptop is 10x more faster than it was before

I think I can use it for next 3-4 yrs more with just this 2300rs.(SSD) + 350rs. (Caddy) Investment.

Tip:
- Make sure you order correct caddy before starting the operation if you want to use HDD in DVD writer’s space.
- Download OS from microsoft website and keep your pendrive ready.

For any help you can msg me

Could be thermal throttling. Or if you are using on battery maybe its due a replacement.

check memory usage of that TAB using windows task manager.. I have had them get over 2-3GB.. per tab since it streams and dont seem to clear buffer.. just click close tab and it clears it and reopen the tab..
