Hey guys,
We are completely re-vamping the Forum design on Desktop and M-site after around 5 to 6 years… Its one of the major change which will get rolled out to you in next couple of hours…
Why such a big change suddenly?
To be very frank, its not a sudden change and we have ourselves used the new layout/design for past 1.5 months before rolling out to all… And yes we have been contemplating such a change from a long time…
The forum page in its current form was very unhelpful for New Dimers or new visitors to the website… With around 8-9 sticky, the sub-forums etc.. all the real deals were very much down and was lot of inconvenience for New Dimers to figure out the deals.
Also many never figured out how to see Latest deals in forums etc.. So we are hoping the new design will solve some of the pressing UX problems.
Why no votes? Why only hotness?
Over the last one year, we have worked a lot on Hotness algorithm and we will continue to evolve it to push better and better deals up the chain irrespective of simply “votes”
In current Forum page, 5 green smileys would show up even for deal having 40 votes vs one having 6 votes… It was never intuitive enough to understand the hotness of the deal..
With hotness, we are trying our best to automatically show the best deals on very top and Hotness currently is not depndent on what your “best friend” in the community thinks.. it considers clicks, views and much more…
While moving away from smileys may feel a bit odd, you will strongly feel the difference after few days or a week.

Easier switching of Forums
We understand many users would like to switch between forums and we have tried it to make it as much easier as we can.
Improved Search
If you are searching for deals, you wont find discussion clutter when looking for deals.
Choose your layout and it applies site-wide
If you prefer to see deals in a Grid format, simply select that layout and same layout will apply in Home page, Forum page, Search page etc..
If you prefer a less image heavy Text layout, We have got you covered too.
Hope you guys enjoy the change… While it may become slightly difficult initially (specially for hard core users out there), We can assure you that you will appreciate the change as time passes by

thats a pathetic ui. unable to find any good deals at all. not sure if its just me-

Old “Hot deals online” Forum page, was much more comfortable than this new design of Hot deal page (Now its no more forum).
Old forum page feels like when you’re far more attached to others on DD for all type of deal discussion. New “Hot deals online” page feels all alone, like your are here only for deals. You couldn’t find who has made latest/last comment for any thread until you`re not get into the thread. There are many dimers whose comments or opinions does matter to us. we would be grateful if you consider this matter in your new design.

I personally like the previous version. Though the sticky threads were a bit annoying. I think there should be an option to either choose the new ui or the old one depending on user preference

I thought someone might start a post about the new look of desidime and it looks like nobody does.
1. No offense but to be frank, i like the old smileys. It clearly show the VU and VD so that we understand whether the deal is a good or bad and now with the new looks i’m missing it. It’s like a rating to the thread posted. If it has 5 star, i new miss checking it even though i dnt use it. Bt with that feature gone i should probably open each and every thread.
2. I used to open the dd site 24/7 with autoreload option in my lappy that uses 1/5th of the space and i could see the whole title in a condensed format but with the new look it ain’t possible to see it condensed format with 1/5th space
3. can’t judge with the fire symbol and the degree hot to buy a deal
I like the new look and it even divides every thread and looks like android O

Yes absolutely correct. Previous version was user friendly and easy to navigate across without any confusion. I hope admin will bring back the old version.

Another big I noticed is that when you click on any link on the new dd app then it redirects to your desired browser but the dd app goes missing from recent app location.
And another thing happens when I click from Telegram broadcast links. The dd app opens up but I when I go back from the offer page to the homepage of dd app, the closes.
So these some bugs which I found recently.
I’m using Android 7.1.1 on Moto G5s+ , latest dd app running.

One thing I noticed is that it’s now difficult to search for Original Post. Its neither appearing in Discussions nor in Hot Deals.

Poor use of space I would say.
Why would you have to take the entire screen space for that big fire logo and the description in hot deals forums?
Why am I seeing only 3 threads at a time on my entire monitor where I used to see 10+ on previous design?
I’m all for change but this is the dumbest design for a forum I’ve ever seen. Suitable design for kindergarten not for adults.

Poor design. It is just all messed up.
I used to see all deals in hot deals section with just a couple of scrolls.
Now I am seeing a lot of stuff and just scrolling down like an idiot to find something useful.
Just an advice:

Right click and left click on Site links are now same. Both takes us to the site directly ? Wht if i want open in new window or anything else ?

Poor UI..
If you want something good , then VBulletin is the best option to go for.. It offers loads of customization too. If you want free , there are many.
