I am looking for my first Credit Card and need help, suggestions and healthy discussions pertaining to anything about Credit Cards
Purpose : My primary purpose of getting a Credit Card is improving my CIBIL Score as I intend to buy a house next 3 years down the line.
Some details : Age 23, Salary is frankly good enough to get any Credit Card, Not an impulsive shopper though Phones are my weakness but in recent times I have been able to curb on it .
My typical online usage : All the routine online payments and big ticket online purchases in my household I intend to route it through my account .
Typical Payments: Mobile Bills( Courtesy Jio has reduced drastically ) , Electricity Bills, Internet Bills , Online Grocery Shopping, Restaurants ( Fast Food Joints and Stuff maybe once every week or fortnigh) , BMS maybe once a month and rest Electronics and Apparel Shopping and Vacations/Getaways and sometimes online medicines too ( non-frequent but worth mentioning )
Max to max intend to spend lets say 6k to 8k a month using the card inspite of all the above mentioned purchases and its after keeping a buffer margin . A big shopping like a Phone or some other heavy electronics or a trip may increase my spending in some of the months.
Payments : I am no way intending to improve my current Lifestyle or living standards its only that I want to improve upon my CIBIL Score so all the payments would be made in time/within the due date .
I have been approached by Citi for Premium Platinum Rewards cards and have yet to give them a consent on the same. First year is free and then from next years fees will be waived if spends cross 30k a year . I have also read about the HDFC Diners Club card so confused which one should I opt for keeping in my above shopping needs
I have read almost all the previous threads on this topic and have created a new one as the threads with the most information are atleast an year old . Tagging all the dimers whom I feel are relevant to discussion in the next post .
can anyone tell how to view transaction wise points addition in HDFC Diners Rewardz? I can only see my total points in netbanking

i had a confusion and i suppose, people here might have some idea about it,
following this link, i see that i can redeem 1500 points for amazon 1000 gv (for example),

but, when i try the same by logging in and checking in from my account options, it states 2400 points for amazon 1000 gv, and no other reward option is there.
why so drastic change in vale of redemption of points?

Yesbank is a new player in the segment, so more eager to get new customer. AMEX also changed strategy short while ago, but not linked to demonitization

Also, does closing a CC affects Credit score?

Hi, I have an HDFC moneyback for the last 11 months and it was the one HDFC offered based on my savings account. I was freelancing for a while and I’m looking for a job at the moment. I need some more money to float a 2 more months, can you suggest any cards that can get easily approved? My cibil score is 714 and my annual income on IT is near 4L per annum. Do you have any suggestion?

Everyday people are making new threads for CC query. So I thought not to make new thread & continue in old thread.
Recently I applied for American express membership rewards card & yesterday I received it. I have few queries
1) They have given me only 30k credit limit :O !!! Now earliest when can I apply for increase in credit limit ?
2) Previously I was using Axis bank cc, which was linked to my axis bank saving account & I opted for auto debit payment mode on last day. Because I have less limit, If I need to spend more than 30k, can I do prepayment prior to bill generation to get my limit back ?? Once I prepay, it takes how much time to change in limit ?
3) They are saying that ‘’Enjoy up to 20% off every time you dine at select restaurant partners’’. Where to check for these partners list ??
4) They have written that Membership Rewards Point will be given except for spends at Fuel, Insurance, Utilities and Cash Transactions. Whether I will get bonus 1000 points if I pay >1000rs. 4 times in any above category? (Mostly fuel)

Tried amex but i dont meet salary requirements…. i have an option of citi cc which is free if i use 30k annually.
Havent enquired in icici, axis.
Since i already have 1 cc i would spend max 1L in the new card per yr.

Citi Cashback or Rewards Card
You can go by referral of someone or Go by CB Site Zingoy 250 CB > Bank Bazaar to get 750 Amazon GV (not for HSBC though but CB site cb is there atleast)
OK. Earlier stopped banking, now gift cards. But becoming more agressive in cards segment. Better offers compared to earlier.
