BP Monitor - Query
Got 1000 CBs from Shopclues as cashback (ID sale). Yes, it’s true! They credited it in 5 minutes of making a call to their CS. Even I got blown away!
Since I’ve got only 9 more days to utilize it, I thought of buying a BP monitor for my parents instead of wasting it on impulse shopping.
Please suggest a good brand of BP monitor. The ones available in my budget from SC are… Rossmaxx, Nureca, Omron, Citizen etc. Is there a good one among these?
Or should I drop the idea of buying one from SC and go to some other site to buy a good one?
Calling all medical doctors of DD…

Those who are recommending comparing the readings of automatic oscillometric BP monitors to the readings of mercury sphygmomanometer devices taken at a physician’s place should read and understand the “white-coat effect”.
Here is just one scientific paper about this: http://archinte.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?ar...
Moreover, there is enough scientific research to confirm that consistent readings taken from the automatic BP monitors at home are more reliable than readings from the mercury sphygmomanometers taken at a doctor’s clinic/hospital. By far, the single most important factor for getting correct BP readings is to take the reading properly. Most people do not understand this simple concept. “white-coat effect”. TRUE
at home are more reliable TRUE
… most important factor … to take the reading properly… TRUE to the power of ¯¯ TRUE [x] infinity ∞
it is known fact and thus easily rectifiable (or may be not easy, because it is similar to bluffing the polygraph machine.. body mind has to be totally relaxed)
but then how to and what to pit oneself against the wise Dimerly advice of others here, so i too recalled my blabbering.

@Magus So whats the result?
I am also in desperate need to buy a sphygmomanometer. My mother has had elevated B.P. for the past year and has now been prescribed antihypertensives. I would prefer to buy a clinically validated one like the Omron HEM 7201 but unfortunately it seems to be OOS everywhere. There’s another model that appears to belong to same family, the HEM 7270 but its not mentioned whether its clinically validated or not. Curiously Omron India website has no mention of the 7201. 7200JPN1 is mentioned and is supposed to be made in Japan but different reviews have mentioned various parts being actually manufactured in China… Locally only the entry level models are available. I am more inclined towards buying the traditional Mercury-based sphygmomanometer. Diamond brand is purportedly one of the best and used by many doctors. Is this correct?
