The item isn’t confirmed till last page. You can go back from here. I did that 100’s of times. Though i haven’t purchased a single thing yet through amazon

This is what i know on this matter:

As per info given on govt websites, Items upto Rs 2000 are duty free. If the item is marked as gift then upto rs 10,000 is duty free. But there is a catch here .. custom officer will randomly check the item and will try to find the value of the item. Most of the times they take mrp as the value of the item .. so they may charge you customs even if you paid less i.e bought the item at a discount.

indian customs is tough to predict. i have ordered car remote security system from aliexpress.com on nov 12, which is free shipping , the product cost is USD 26.90, but i got $5 coupon, so i paid $21.90, through cc. the parcel have been despatched with tracking number, yesterday i got an memo from my local postman, that the parcel is in local post office, and have to pay Rs.2520 as duty. to collect parcel. i am shocked to see in that memo.

customs have assessed value as Rs.6ooo, and for that 41.xx% duty, comes to Rs.2520.

when i get same branded system in india for about Rs.3xxx with warranty, i wonder how come they valued from china for Rs.6000. roll

also i am going to ask post master to retrn that to Dy commissioner, postal appraising dept, chennai, for reassessment with the supporing documents for my claim, that i am using it for personal use

i had a item in customs at shmedabad,
customs r charging 6000inr fine charges and a duty of 41.50% of price of item…
so do any one know how can i go through this matter,
i have bought a tablet from us…
it has been send to me by usps…
also i had pay through paypal to ebay.com
can any one help me out how to get out of this matter and wat r the exact duty to import.
plz some one reply soon

can u tell us why are they charging 6K fine.
Also you can sort out the issue by personally visiting the custom office. It happened with my friend .. He bought a laptop, when he visited the custom office they dropped duty from 10K to 1500 only

happy news, as i sent my parcel from china, which was levied duty for Rs.2530, has been cancelled, and free, as i have sent it for re-assessment to chennai PAD, but it took long (2 months) , but still , happy, that NIL duty, as i have provided all supportive documents, have not visited their office personally, but made phone calls, to follow up. had nice learning experience.
