There is a very simple yet effective way to reduce queues at banks. The banks should issue paper tokens giving a running serial no. to people and keep showing the serial no. which is ready to be served at the bank’s web-site. This way the people will come to know the approximate time when they will be served sitting at their home itself and can reach the bank at the proper time.

There are three tasks being performed by the people at banks – Depositing the old notes (D), Withdrawing cash using cheques (W), and Changing old notes with the new ones ©. The banks can issue paper tokens in these three series. e.g. D-1, D-2, D-3…..; W-1, W-2, W-3……; and C-1, C-2, C-3….. The banks already might be having a list of all their branches on their web-site. If not, such a list can be developed and shown on the web-site. Against each branch, the bank should keep updating which serial no. will be served next for all the three series.

If my paper token is D-500 and the bank is showing D-490 as the token to be served next, I can know sitting at my home that this is the time for me to reach the bank. I can be assured that only 10 customers are there to be served before me. So, I will have to wait very little in queue.

The serial nos. will be continuous and will NOT be reset each day. They will be carried over to the next day, even next week. It will be possible that I take the token today and get a service after 4-5 days.

If the banks are able to make a little more effort, they can record the given token no. with the account details/profile of the customer (for D and W cases). Then E-mail/SMS can be sent to the customer when the customer’s turn is about to come since his e-mail/mobile no. is already available with the bank. However, the task of giving paper token should not be made more elaborate/time consuming otherwise queues will develop for getting tokens in place of doing the actual transaction.

Demonetisation: Housing prices to drop up to 30%, wiping Rs 8 lakh crore in value

“We expect lot of secondary market transactions (resales) coming down in volume. For every five buyers out there, there is only one buyer willing to pay all-cheque. And usually, people want to take at least 20 to 30 percent of the amount in cash, but this will now go away for the time being,” Samir Jasuja, CEO and Founder of PropEquity said.

“But this will also mean that we can expect more formal and organised developers to weather this storm and will relatively be in a better position in the next 9-12 months,” it said.

“In our view, there will be acute pain in the short-term but in the mid to long run it will be hugely beneficial for Indian realty as it will create lot of transparency,” PropEquity said.

Even if they don’t reduce …price will go down in future ..bcoz ppl who are buying those house or flats they are using there black money .. so if demonetization reduces that black money then price will go down..or if they don’t then they will suffer so much…and here I m a son of real state businessman… 😁 and I m happy with this demonetization..

UNESCO has declared ₹2000 note as the best designed note in the entire galaxy, and demonetization as the best policy by any government since humans have existed on this earth.

Been that way for long…CC account limited for withdrawal! CC means cash/credit, it’s primary purpose is to facilitate businesses to deposit and withdrawn everyday with ease. Restricting it would paralyse business.

If you are interested in a comprehensive analysis of why and how demonetization will fail in impacting the black money economy, read the following article.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/demonetisation-trick...

An excerpt from the article:

“…
The future

The ease with which people are converting old currency notes into new ones explains why Rs 8 lakh crores in the withdrawn notes has already been returned to banks. Market experts feel that the big sharks have not yet started moving their huge reservoirs of their old notes. They are waiting for the government to emerge out of confusion, evident from the manner in which it has been issuing new diktats, one after another.

Once Parliament goes into winter recess and new legislations are passed, the big sharks will begin to move their funds. From this perspective, the government is likely to receive more of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes than it had earlier envisaged.

This means the Reserve Bank of India will not be able to reduce its liability substantially and transfer huge profits to the government. The government might not be able to play Robin Hood with the panache it had hoped for."
