Why Amazon is better than Flipkart any day (Amazon has become even worse than Flipkart nowadays)

Update : Never expected that Amazon would go to the dogs so soon.

I have bought many mobiles from Flipkart over a period of years. There have been at least 5 instances when the price of the mobile came down (once as high as 1000 bucks) within two or three days of delivery. Not a single time have they compensated it so far in the form of a GV or wallet money. Every time those parrots keep repeating the same old thing… Prices depend on the seller and we cannot do anything about it, blah, blah, blah… Even though the seller has been WSRetail in all these instances. Since I’m not used to persuasive or coercive talking, I just listen to this sh!t and cut the call.
Had this been Amazon, things would happen exactly the opposite way. If Both Amazon and Flipkart continue with what they are doing, I’m sure Flipkart will be watered down by Amazon very soon.

Not a flipkart fan but some LED TV deals are much better on flipkart than amazon, also FK provide FREE wall mount and installation which is chargeable on amazon.

Whenever i see your post, i read in awe. Love ur posts. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif the company who the guts to start the loot in ecommerce (the first big billion day), is coming to such a end. Sad to see.

You mean the stupidest thing one could do, as a startup! They promoted high value items, likes phones, at or close to 90% discount value & probably had less than 10K of these items on sale. That’s like serving 0.0001% of India’s poputation & 0.01% of online shoppers at that time.

So not only did they burn literally billions of investor money on a stupid promo but also made a vast majority of shoppers, like me who logged into FK that day, angry because we couldn’t buy a single item at these loot prices. After that Amazon came with their own promo that lasted 10 days, or more IIRC & had some excellent deals themselves btw those were the days when Amazon honotred loot deals & I’m sure many benefited from them more than FK’s flop sale.

So, rule of thumb → don’t sell items at 50~90% discount serving only a handful of customers, the ones that buy this stuff, even high value items, at reasonable prices are much more loyal & trustworthy!

Not only are the Bansal’s novices in running such a business but the fact they haven’t learned nor earned users’ trust 2yrs from that time shows that they don’t really care about us, also one of the Bansals buying 32crs home in Bangalore at this time, I mean seriously they’re even worse than I thought https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_evil.gif

Infact I had to go forward and ask them not to refund for the hand-wash bottle as leakage won’t have an impact on a sealed bottle.
Flipkart would have refunded? Maybe but the hassle of the long process I would have had to take would not have been worth. Maybe I would have not followed up with them knowing I would have to spend 2 3 hours in total on phone to get my 300 odd bucks back.

For a long time my purchases online had been governed by only one principle:
“buy from wherever the cheapest”

I would compare prices and place order wherever I found a better deal regardless of delivery-times, seller reliability. I would only check the return/refund policies just in case but never really paid attention. There’s one experience I want to share with my dimers since this topic has started getting hotter.

Back in early 2015, Paytm used to have a useless customer support service and I had trouble (took 13 days) to receive cashback worth of Rs 7,000 on purchase of a Galaxy Note 4 (costed 50k – 7k cb, amazon & flipkart both selling it around 49k). Fast forward to a great ownership of 5 months, I ran into a problem with my charger around mid-August. I took it to the Samsung SC and got an astonishing response. They refused warranty for the device stating that the bill date of March 2015 is invalid and the device has been in use since Dec 2014! They marked my job card as “fake invoice” and refused to entertain further warranty claims unless I presented the invoice with the December date. Recalling my experience and ordeal at the time of purchase, I was demoralized and hopeless. I immediately regretted my purchase on Paytm and wished I had ordered it from FK or AMZ.

But the story isn’t a sad story! I contacted Paytm where they assured me of a resolution and provided me with the seller’s contact details to first get in touch with them. The seller, at first, refused to believe me and insisted I visited some other center. Later, she offered to buy an extended warranty package and a brand new genuine charger. I wasn’t convinced as I had started getting a feeling of being cheated by her “offerings”. In a way she had accepted that she had tried to cheat me.

Paytm kicked into action soon. I called Paytm support and told them I’m not convinced by seller’s resolution and would like them to intervene. Within hours of that phone call I got an email asking me to format my device (privacy reasons), put all the accessories and the phone in the box and await reverse pickup for a full refund. Pickup took place 2 days later and I got a full refund of Rs 50k in my Paytm wallet within hours of pickup, which I transfered back to my bank.

I couldn’t believe my luck! I can’t imagine such a resolution from an offline retailer. They would simply refuse to entertain such a claim saying that they have provided an invoice and I should pursue Samsung for not offering the promised warranty. I still have a hard time making people believe this actually happened, at times I’ve had to show them the emails to prove I am not kidding. I had paid Rs 50k for the phone, received and used a cashback of Rs 7k and had gotten a refund of Rs 50k after 5 months. Talk about policies and goodwill of retailers in India!

You, sir, are the reason why online retailers in India have stricter policies with cumbersome refund verification processes! (kidding obviously)

My experience has always been okay for all sites. Truth is yes I am buying more from Amazon lately they are giving cheap prices and loot deals too https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif .
Have bought many mobiles from fk and amazon both and never had any major problem.

Yes the last mobile I bought moto g plus had some scratches even though the box was sealed. Was disappointed with Amazon and they gave me only 100 gv. Very low compensation but was surprised why they didn’t pack my mobile properly.

Anyways I didn’t had much choice and wanted mobile urgently so took it. As someone mentioned we always need Fk for good deals from Amazon.
Amazon is no.1 in my opinion but they are getting complacent too lately. This compensation thing is the strategy by Amazon to keep customers and it seems to be working.

Yes. Happening with me too. But that has started happening more after I installed DD on my smartphone. The latest purchase has been my WD My Passport Ultra 2TB which I got for just Rs5250! I was about to get a 1TB for about 4k from either Paytm or FK. For now, Amazon > Flipkart. Still doesn’t beat Paytm for their cashbacks though, but just a matter of time I think!

My 2 cents.

While Amazon has been very good in most of the departments, it sucks in apparel purchases. If you order a wrong size at a good deal, you will have to just return it, you cant exchange it. I have been chasing amazon for a change in policies for quite a long time (almost one year) but havenot seen this one important change.

Had to bump up this old thread to share yet another great experience shopping with Amazon.

I ordered two packs of vissco brand universal rubber tips for my grandma’s old vissco walking stick. Though the product said it’s universal the rubber tips did not fit her walking stick so I tried to raise a replacement request but was prompted with a message saying this product does not have option for returns.

Then I contacted the customer care and told them about my issue, they immediately provided a refund for the entire amount and asked me to dispose off those rubber tips if I have to. I bet Flipkart never does this!

I guess if anyone has noticed Amazon’s real strategy. They have not just entered Indian marketplace to be in loss but their main goal is to capture the market share in India. They have learned a lot after losing a battle with its arch rival, China. Now, they don’t want to lose a war from another super power from Asia.
Though, amazon has launched its prestigious service like prime and that too for 60 days free trial period without providing unlimited streaming of TV shows or movies. I must also say that recently Amazon has started removing list prices from its U.S website.

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/07/04/business/a...

It is remarkable to note that Amazon, Inc has not incorporated any profit from past 25 years of experience though it has other major source of income from AWS and MTurk.
I remember Jeff Bezoz’s idea of creating a customer centric company when he was flipping burgers at Princeton. Probably that idea has not failed yet as the company has great investors in his pocket.

In the end , Amazon wants a large db of loyal customers at any cost.

But I don’t support this practice. In a market like ours, such policies will only lead to more cheating by the customers.

An year or two Flipkart was monopoly in the market but no longer very poor customer care service and waste of subscribing Flipkart first customer. There are around 8 to orders of mine was not even delivered within a day iI called customer care and asked about the guarantee they through a small apologies and didn’t even credit the 180 in the wallet. It’s really waste and worst customer service. If it’s a loot we will use Flipkart otherwise will stay away from Flipkart . Almost in the last one year i made around 70 to 80 orders in Amazon only. Not even checking Flipkart.

I had a very bad experience with Amazon today. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

To begin with, they were not clear about the terms and conditions for the SBI cashback offer. I had to spend almost my entire day on getting things clarified about this. Many of their agents were not even able to understand what I was trying to convey. They all reminded me of Flipkart except for one agent whom I spoke to at the end of the day. For example, here is the email exchange between us in this regard:

Me:

According to the terms, only amazon.in gift cards and gold coins are
excluded from the SBI cashback offer.

1. If all the gift cards on Amazon are ineligible, why specify amazon.in
gift cards in the FAQs? (Check Attachment 1)

2. The offer banner is displayed on the Woohoo Gift Cards page. (Check
Attachment 2)

It’s because of this ambiguity in presentation that I got lured to place
the order. Now I’m not able to cancel the order because it’s already in process. I’m
told that it could be cancelled only after dispatch. Should I then wait
till it reaches back the seller to get my money refunded?

I would not have even thought of ordering it if you had simply written that
all gift cards are excluded from this offer and had not displayed the
banner on the product page.
Now my money close to 15000 is blocked for another two weeks. It is not
even credit card but debit card. Why should the customer suffer because of
your mistakes? What is the point in just repeating everywhere Amazon is the
most customer-centric company on earth? Disappointing!

Amazon:

As per your concern, I have checked the details and found that the cashback is not applicable on purchase of Amazon.in gift cards and/or gold coins.

Hence you are not eligible for the cashback offer.

So, in that case you can cancel the order once it get dispatched and place a new order.

I was like… WTF! And this was the case with almost every agent I encountered today. First of all, it took me half an hour even to make the first agent understand the terms were misguiding. After a long explanation, he understood my point but said that according to his resources the card was not eligible for the cashback. I asked him to intimate the promotion team to change the terms accordingly. He had done it immediately but the concerned team did not take it seriously, it seems. The last agent admitted their fault and promised me that it would be done ASAP. I wonder if their promotion team is concerned about those who might have ordered it based on the terms and the banner. Such negligence! https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif
