As we discussed earlier, Airtel Rolled Out 5G in 8 Cities at its initial stage. This will be a new experience for the users and a way for Airtel to see whether or not there are any problems with releasing 5G right now in India. The 8 lucky cities that first got to see Airtel 5G are- Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Varanasi, Nagpur, and Siliguri. So if you are a citizen of these 8 cities, you can use Airtel 5G on your 5G smartphone.

But the biggest question that users have right now is whether their smartphones are capable of running 5G with their Airtel SIM cards or not. So if you are in search of the answer to this question, you are at the right place. In this article, we will talk about all those smartphones that are ready to use Airtel 5G and those that would be ready soon with a software update.

The Airtel 5G network, according to the brand itself, is 20-30 times faster than the 4G networks that we have been enjoying so far. For rest of the world, phones with 5g just work without any software update. Why are we dependant on updates from these operators?
Because other countries have had 5G networks for years; the brands always launch a smartphone in a country after considering all of its factors. Since those countries had 5G already, brands can't afford to make them wait. But in India, this is the first time we are getting 5G and smartphone brands just launched their phones keeping 4G in mind.
It's just like Apple launched an e-SIM version of the iPhone 14 lineup in the US while in India, you get a full-fledged physical SIM card version of the iPhone 14 series since we have not started using e-SIM here as often as the western countries.
I hope my answer helps.

Thank you,Have another question- iqoo 7 which doesn't have any 5g bands in GSMArena website is still given in Airtel 5g list where as neo6 having 4 5g bands was not given in the list. Its by mistake not given in the list as newly launched or something else with the phone and wait for sometime like software update etc.

Looking at all other 5G smartphones from iQOO and them being 5G ready, I guess the iQOO Neo 6 is ready for it too. Though not sure why Airtel didn't mention it on their list. But, if you are buying the iQOO Neo 6 while 5G is a huge factor for you, it would be better if you could get another smartphone with more 5G bands. I would recommend you go through our article on the best smartphones under Rs 30,000.

The iQOO 7 comes with the n78 5G band. So it's possible for the device to be 5G ready. Sometimes the specs given on other 3rd party sites are not so reliable.

It's not about switching brands and them being good or bad. Every brand has some really good phones and some worse ones too. Rather than looking at a brand as a whole, try looking for devices that suit you the best. The article that I mentioned earlier has only those smartphones that are the best in their price range. Also, I've mentioned the pros and cons of each device for better understanding. Try and go through that article if you need some better suggestions. Or, you can simply tell me what are you looking for in a new smartphone, your priority, and usage and I will suggest you the best one right here.

The Motorola Edge 30 meets almost all of the requirements, except two things- it has non-expandable storage and its battery lasts a day, not more than that.
About the storage, you can use 'Terabox'...it is a free could storage app that I use myself. It gives you 1TB of cloud storage for free. About the battery, it's good for moderate usage. If you are a heavy user, you may have to charge it at night, maybe around 8 after a whole day's work. It has the Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset and comes with Stock Android too. Also, it has 13 5G bands, more than any other smartphone in this price range.
Another smartphone that I would suggest is the iQOO 9 SE. it has more 5G bands than the iQOO Neo 6 but doesn't come with expandable storage. The best part, it runs on the Snapdragon 888 chipset, the most powerful one in this budget.

Story of everone !! Was waiting at barber shop for my turn the other day (Bangalore) and Airtel 4G won't even work inside the barbershop. Had to come out for signal !!

On Samsung M53 (Bangalore), now everything is showing 5G ready from Airtel app - city, handset and software. But not getting option of 5G only in Mobile settings. Getting the generic 2G/3G/4G etc option. Looks like in my area 5G tower is not enabled. Might stop by Airtel shop and check with them.

As usual, the Airtel 4G speed is a pathetic 3 Mbps (with a small "b") download and upload speed is 0.55 Mbps at home. Compared to that, Jio 4G SIM in same M53 is showing 17.8 Mbps download and 0.51 Mbps upload via speedtest.

Yeah, you should go and check with an Airtel store, they might be able to help you with your problems.
