Rome was not built in a day
When BSNL / MTNL ruled, Airtel & Vodafone were consolidating
Jio is big, really big but telecom market has capacity to co-exist.
Once the dust scatters, there will be light, light for all.
BSNL/MTNL ki durgati govt (both BJP & Cong) aur employees ki vajah se hui, varna in pvt companies ki kya majaal jo aam janta ko itna loote
Agree, and even these private players lobbied so much to break BSNL. They made sure that BSNL always priced their calls higher and even when they had plans for high volume growth for 3g data by providing unlimited plans few years back they stifled it
+1
And still So much of valuable and good equipment is not being used to improve customer service!
BSNL future is highly doubtful now.?

Without subscribing a Pack Data Cost Per GB is Rs50 and when you subscribe Rs149 pack you get 0.3GB and Rs499/ giving 4GB,
Now why would anyone subscribe those packs

I don’t think it will work because calls are on VoLTE system

Does free voice calls on the Jio Plans count as data usage or excluded from it?
Don’t worry they would be surely excluded from data usage. Just because it is plausible doesn’t mean they would start billing you data for your calls. That’s not how a new operator would do it or for that reason any operator would do. Just that it is a better tech they have adopted it and not for data billing the voice calls which doesn’t make much sense for them or the customers. No where in the world has that been done and in India too it won’t happen.
No where in the world you find such low priced plans either man, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see voice calls being included in data usage.
Don’t convert the dollar pricing to rupees and say it is cheap here. You have to consider the purchasing power parity when you can compare prices.
I never compared it to the Dollar pricing, in fact the price I paid when I was in US (in case you are referring to USD) was much higher than the price I currently pay in India. As you want to compare PPP let’s compare it with the likes of China and South Africa as shown in the slides at time of launch today. Do you think the GDP adjusted to PPP in India is that irrational compared to China and SA too? As of now there is hardly 10% difference when you compare with China at least. So yeah, the pricing provided by Jio is still way cheaper than the global offerings.

With the plans launched by RJio, people can just buy 1 Jio sim for the entire household.
As there are unlimited calls/sms/roaming included in the plans, everyone in the family can have a separate sim and use a Jio sim as a common (landline type) phone for voice and Jio apps.
Well since calls & SMS are free, it means that they’ll be counted against your data balance, after 2016, so it’s not feasible without a good amount of GB’s in your account.
I and many others have explained about this previously. Even though the call uses data tech (Volte) they won’t deduct it from your primary data balance (In plain words, you can use your complete data without any deductions)
Does the same concept apply for apps like JioPlay and JioOnDemand? CC @thrifty_indian @NavneetP.S. Please say yes so I can also get rid of my DTH connections.
Definitely not (T&Cs of these apps always would say data charges apply) and has nothing to do with the VoLTE tech. But if they offer these apps with free data (99.9% they won’t ) many of the big companies will have serious troubles and reliance will have too many lawsuits against them
I know I am being overly optimistic here. But then who would have thought that a new telecom company would giveaway Zettabytes of mobile data and spend billions in interconnection fees without taking a single penny from the customers!

Someone pls tell me that who will get free access till December The existing customers or new customers who will buy sim after launch?
Dec 31, 2016: Both; everyone!
Yes.
Jio – Launch – serving Sugar Mixed with (invisible) salt
No wonder it will create the Tornado in the Indian Telecom sector… as we can see the effect of launch other telco shares started plummeting by 6-10%. Lets put aside the share market insights (I am no expert in it anyway).
But the Effect on the End user – King Consumer…
As a High data consumer I was, like many of you all, was frustrated with the Airtel, VOdafone, Idea, Docomo (AVoID) Group’s nonsensical data plans and no doubt they are sucking the money out of the pocket inversely proprtional to the internet speed.
Hope and Hype was created when Jio launched (Preview) and rumour started about 99/Gb or 50/Gb, I was also waiting for official Tarrif announcement and to my expectation it turned out to be true it was never meant to be flat out Rs.50/Gb it will going to be only as incremental basis like wholesale market.
for Small User – Rs.149/300Mb = 0.49 Mb i.e Rs.508/Gb
For Medium User Rs.199/299 = 0.75 Gb/2Gb I.e. Rs. 265/ Rs.150 per Gb
For High End user Rs.1499 = 20Gb I.e. Rs. 75 per Gb
Rs.2499 = 35Gb I.e. Rs. 72 per Gb
Rs.3999 = 60Gb I.e. Rs. 67 per Gb
Rs.4999 = 75Gb I.e. Rs. 67 per Gb
(Plans of Rs. 19, 499, 999 Not considered for analysis)
Also JioNet wifi Data is also Ignored as this may not be at our disposal immediately.
The ONLY Relief is Unlimited Data at NIGHT and calling facility.
One thing we should not forget that Reliance is NOT, was Never and Will NEVER will be here for Charity, Once all these DUST settles from so called “Telecom Revolution” we will be left with only few telcos could be counted in one hand fingers as there is immediate need for the Mergers and Acquisitions ahead of Next spectrum auction and upgradation of current infrastructure which is on the edge of going to be obsolete in near future not literally but metaphorically or may be??

MYJIO Apps
COming at the JIO App Subscriptions which at AGM said to have yearly cost of s.15,000/- I would be surprised if they could retain 30% customers on this subscription Coz My personal choice to watch TV is with Real HD with dolby dgital Plus. and currently Jio is compressing quality for Eg. doing Mtunes HD feed in SD, I know it automatically detects speed and accordingly changes the quality but still you can fig. out the rest.
It also Doesn’t have CHROMECAST support, I am sure they will consider it in near future.
>>

My fear is that they should not deduct the Calls from data balance and they should NOT adopt airtel policy of charging 1.15 data i.e they charge 1.15Mb if you have used 1Mb data
(Of course they are too loyal to admit it but its truth )

The Rs 50 per GB on-the-go pack might not come with Unlimited Calling and SMS, Unlimited Night Data, Jio Apps subscription, JioNet data, etc.
Just regular 4G data at 50 rs per gb.

I don’t know where you derived that 10% price difference from (unless you provided a link to substantiate). US GDP per capita (adjusted to PPP) is at least 9 times that of India and a typical plan which Reliance announced for 500 costs $40 there. Even if you calculate in a lay man terms of $12 per hour being paid for an unskilled labour (here the pay for the same wrk is not more than $1 per hour) $40 is still cheaper there in terms of PPP.

Thats a good one…
But they must’ve already bought put options or short sold the stock by unofficial means avoiding MCA & SEBI norms.. they have thier own techniques to manipulate the market share prices and make money out of it,,
