SC Manhattan card cash back

I got to know interesting points about the Standard Chartered Manhattan card. Everyone thinks it is best card but it is also has draw backs.

1. If your purchase is less than 1000 in supermakets and departmental stores won’t earn neither reward points nor cash back

2. Once we reached 500 cashback for the month, none of the transactions in supermakets and departmental stores won’t earn reward points or cash back.

3. For each transaction in departmental and super markets limited to Rs. 200. If you spend 10 k also 200 cashback, and for the remaining money they won’t issue rewards points

It is registered as such in Deutsche bank, it might be registered correctly in Standard chartered bank. so you may not get expected discount.

Anyways DAN I heard that that Deutsche Bank sold their Credit Card Division to another bank. Are they still running? And if yes then do they have any Cashback Card?

@above…
they don’t have any credit cards as for as i know…. but for Debit cards, they have express points for almost every transaction( including ATM withdrawal https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif )
they credit ten point for every salary credit also https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

and a very good thing each point is equal to 1rs unlicke other banks which give 25 paise and added to that u can redeem these for cash in your account https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

provided u maintain the minimum balance, there is no charge for debit cards

I had an manhattan card which I got in Oct, 2012. After seeing the blog, I called their CC. They said annual fee will be levied in Oct month statement.
They can only take a request for Fee waiver only after it’s been logged on statement. For processing fee waiver or discount in fee waiver we must not do any transaction after annual fee is logged.

She didn’t said exactly but it seems we can cancel the card without paying the annual fee if we don’t make any transaction after fee is logged. If we make any transaction then we had to pay it.

I called their CC & kept a request for Cancellation of Card. The next day I got a call from one of their executives (may be retention dept). She told I am eligible for 100% fee waiver but they can waive the fee only after it’s charged to statement. I asked what if you won’t accept for waiver after it’s logged & I asked to send a email regarding this confirmation. She said they can’t send an email, but she given a ref no for the conversation we had. She told after the fee was charged to statement, I can call their CC & give this ref no. As everything was recorded with this ref no they can waive the fee.

Good to hear but still sounds fishy.
If they can agree to Use the recording as a proof of confirmation, why can’t they send this one line in email ?
Dude you dont have this waiver confirmation in writing, but SC Bank has your signature in card application form which says TnC (1000 rs annual charge)
(They know that you will forward their Mail to Bank Ombudsman and then they will no longer be able to charge 1000 Rs from you)
So be safe and keep pushing for written confirmation. You dont have much time left, anyway.

As I got assurance from their CC twice, I thought of keeping the card & giving it a try. They told the charge will be logged in Oct stmt & it will come in Nov. So will call them in Nov & see what happens.

Note: Exp. of Titanium Card

In last month had swiped on a petrol pump for a transaction of >2000 rs.

When I saw my statement i was not given any cashback or rewards points.

Since last one month i have been dealing with those customer care fools and have no solution. SC has one of the worst and most laziest CC i have experienced.

So beaware , check your statement and also they charge for calls ( > 2 ) to CC. 50 rs per call

I think SCB have started moving the cashback to their Rewards Site. They did the same for Manhattan card holders also (as mentioned by me and butterfly boy in earlier post in this thread)

I had been charged some Rs.500+ bucks & service tax with current month bill as annual fee. I called their CC and first asked them to waive charge normally. They said they don’t have any waiver offer & I had to pay the bill. Then I had given them my prev ref no. In that reference it’s been already mentioned I had to get 100% fee waiver. I simply said either waive the fee or cancel the card as per that ref no. So they verified it and reverted back the fee charge.

As a precaution I didn’t made any transaction betweent the time fee is logged & I got waiver as they may change their words at any time
