Yes. Always …. Better buying here. Because offline buying will have higher rate and GST on top. I always buy 2 gm/5gm in these sales. But they are not shipping to Pune.

2gm gold yesterday you could have applied for SGB … price was 5051.

Retail gets even 50 bucks discount. So you would have bought 2gm for (5051 – 50) x 2 = 10,000 and price on amazon AFTER discount is 10,130 and 10,000 so how is this worth buying?

For investment SGB is better but for end use its good deal
You are missing liquidity. When u need money SGB cannot be sold immediately. Physical gold is always like emergency corpus
Incorrect bro. SGB are like shares you can sell on exchange. And we are retail guys, selling 1-2 gms easily no problem 
And tell me which Indian middle class family doesnt have gold already 
SGB you get 2.5% interest. And when you sell this physical gold offline, you will see less value being offered by jewellers.
Im not saying one shouldnt buy gold online. earlier i used to buy small coins etc during amazon / flipkart festivals… at that pt of time, genuine we used to get 10-15% discount.
Now prices are jacked up… meaning that final price is similar to SGB price, many times higher… as investment, online shopping no longer attractive to me.
As gifting option / personal use, of course, very attractive.
SGB has no liquidity. 8 years lock in. Still after 5 years one can exit.
To diversify portfolio, one must always invest in sgb. It’s a very good investment for long term.
Waste
Waste of money if you want to sell it or even hold onto it as an investment. SGB like a poster said is better for that purpose. I’m honestly amused when people hold on to tons of gold jewellery thinking that’s a great investment. These people are paying making charges and the price is already jacked up when the gold is melted from gold bars.
Gold ornaments serve 2 main purpose:
1) Luxury accessory
2) Investment

Anywhere, they are like stocks. Just search for sgb and it will come with monthly series like sgbaug, sgbjul etc

But not all are allowing to buy in secondary market. For Ex: ICICI direct allows to sell but not buy. Crazy right? Some shitty issue between NSDL and CSDL is what I read. They are not sorting from years. But I think it’s allowed to buy on HDFC Securities, Kotak, Zerodha etc.

Guy beware, I have received tempered package for coin. They have beautifully applied tape is center of package, it looks like printed amazon strip. They did not cut the packet from sides as it is coded. Do check your packet before accepting…

Coin is inside, called up Amazon and opened why talking with them. They left it maybe because it was silver coin.
