You are ignoring visa paywave card part ,it seems. Easier to get a paywave card(eg digibank) than samsung pay compatible phone.
BTW for those who havent blocked their dci black cards for other purchases, better option is to purchase reliance retail card from amazon.
yes i think offer is on for digisavings customers. May be they’ve recently introduced paywave POSs’. a month back i read paywave is avlbl at a very limited stores like bigbazaar.
In Bangalore, many local supermarkets also have payWave terminals.
Just wanted to highlight that this 20% discount (not cashback!) would work on everything — even on items like oil, ghee, diapers, etc. which are excluded from the usual offers. And this discount would be on top of any other decent Reliance Fresh item/category discounts.
Also, the 20% off would work unlimited times and without any limit for Samsung Pay users.

Just wondering if anybody got a cashback for the SBI card Big Bazaar paywave 10% cashback offer that ran from July-December 2016? I never did, despite repeated complaints. Should have never fallen for it considering it was SBI:-?

(1) Yes, payWave is the Visa branding for cards enabled for NFC technology. If your Visa card has the following logo in the front, it is a payWave card. 
Note that payWave is new in India so unless your card is relatively new (i.e. issued within the last 1 year), it won’t have the payWave capability. Also, some banks are still issuing non-payWave Visa cards.
(2) Yes, Samsung Pay is Samsung’s wallet which works only on certain top-end Samsung phones. Updated more info in Deal Wiki. Check below the first post.
Paywave is a new type of cards which doesn’t require swiping in POS of merchant. U just have to wave the card near POS to authorize the transaction. I saw visa cards of paywave. May be mastercard also avlbl. U can get one by opening digisavings. In case u need referral, feel free to ping me 
I have digi savings debit card..but it doesn’t have paywave symbol 
and seems like ICICI coral contact less cards come under paywave but they are mastercard not visa !

Yes, I did. Worked flawlessly. Just keep in mind that the discount wouldn’t be visible until the transaction has completed fully. The cashier would enter the full order amount and only after you enter the card PIN on the POs machine, the gateway will determine whether you are eligible for the offer and automatically charge 20% less (upto 200).
@companion Yes, bro. Samsung Pay is the most prominent example of technological changes making life easier in recent times, at least for me. Can’t wait for the day when they will also launch ATMs (like they already have in South Korea) so I can leave my wallet at home when I go out! 
does all digibank debit cards are payWave? can we ask that we need payWave?
No all digibank are not paywave. I am one of early adopters and have got normal debit card. However you can call digibank and ask for paywave in lieu of your existing card and they will issue it. You cam negotiate charges with them.

With Samsung Pay, the Visa card type does not matter, i.e. you will get 20% discount with all Visa cards (payWave or otherwise).
And, yes, I got discount with a Visa payWave as well as an old non-NFC based Visa card added on Samsung Pay.
The card type does not matter as Samsung Pay anyway generates and uses a VCC for the transaction, not the real card details.

Just a quick update; Used samsung pay and purchased 3100 worth grocery from reliance fresh
Used it 1000×3 times and got 600 total discount. My fridge and kitchen are all stocked for atleast a month.
@DealSeeker Appears that 212 MB update messed up samsung pay, its working fine after resetting.
when i tried yesterday with DBS payWave card @ reliancefresh (Mumbai central)they are saying offer is only with samsung pay n not for stand alone card, i tried with POS machine for the payment dbs card does not connected so finally i ended up with 5% off on total.
any 1 tried with only dbs visa payWave card????

@disclaimer Superb find! Visited a Reliance Fresh outlet today and discovered this by chance as there was no prominent advertising — only some small cards hanging on the shelves. Was going to create a new thread but discovered that it was already here. Don’t know how everyone missed this!
