Is cvv not required for online transactions anymore?

To my surprise the transaction went through even though the CVV was wrong.
Tested the same on Amazon Pay. Paid electricity by entering the CVV of a different card, still the transaction went through.
Is it a security issue or there has been some announcement related to this?

Read something like this on dd a few days ago.. This looks serious..
Domestic online transaction need 2F authentication OTP +(CVV or App authentication which can be PIN, Biometric etc).
High chances App authentication was used and CVV was not even used for transaction.
This must have something to do with the card tokenization RBI bringing into action from tomorrow Oct 1st...They told by tokenization, the card details will remain more secure but wtf is this?? Transaction getting approved with wrong CVV ?
If there is any fraudulent transaction then the matter will go in favor of the customers.
But on large scale - big merchants like Paytm, Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra etc save crores of rupees.
Is it SBI Card ?
Happened to me in SBI Card
This was a common issue with Standard Chartered cards a few years back. Was it?
If this is correct then it is weird that RBI is supposedly making our cards more "secure" by completely eliminating one of the steps for authentication.
Looks card-specific, just tried 10rs mobile top-up via amazon with a tokenized card (FK Axis cc) + Wrong CVV and the transaction failed (There are 2/3 dnd threads about the same for SBI cards.. may be there are other cards too)
CVV and expiry date are optional fields for cc transactions to improve security only card number enough for the transaction to go through check amazon US they need only the card number
Your card will get automatically gets tokenized from day when you do transactions from today.
In ur case It could be due to secured saved card or card specific issue
One more merchant, Mobikwik here - https://www.desidime.com/discussions/transactio...
Another Flipkart - https://www.desidime.com/discussions/what-happe...
See, i told you na, big merchant skip CVV verification to reduce the transaction cost.
This happened with my BOB debit card. The CVV shown in the app for virtual DC was different. I wrote down card details somewhere. After a few days, card number remained the same and expiry but CVV changed. Despite using either OLD or NEW CVV, the transaction always succeeds.
This is very old issue, when some a few years ago I contacted the bank for the same, they told me that they do let the transaction complete if OTP is correct. They randomly pick expiry date/ cvv to check. Mostly they do check expiry date. This is strange and random behavior, many times I observed that both are checked.
what about OTP
