is it cheaper ? yes in comparison to others , but …
do a experiment , use jio sim with normal usage and check the data consumed in 30 days .

now see why is is not good according to me (for home use) -
for full home use not good as no UL Plan and 100gb plan is much costlier than Fibre BroadBand U/L plans .
fibre broadband speed may be lower but high ping and ul data so no effect on browsing speed . because 10mbps speed with 2-3ms ping is better than 40mbps speed with 60-70ms ping .
for downloading purpose – speed will be much higher in jio but there are only limited plans so you can download a certain amount of stuff . on other side in broadband speed low but you will get U/L stuff and less costlier .
many broadband companies now a days providing 10-20mbps speed at similar price of 999rs . also at home you can switch off phone data and keep wifi on .
for home use anytime fibre broadband with 10+ mbps speed is best . specially bcoz of cheap price and high ping .

now for only phone use at such a high speed , data will be consumed fast and with such speed people mentality will be to search more related stuff . so people using 1-2 Gb data in other operators will spend 3-4 GB data in Jio . still it can be cheaper if we compare same situation between other operator and Jio .

but why they are charging for calls separately , in this way it will charge in double way – call tariff + data used on VOLTE call .

so conclusion according to me hope prices should be lower for higher data packs and they should not charge double tariffs on single call . and for home purpose launch a fibre broadband .

Assumption of data charged for volte call is wrong. Just because they use this technology doesn’t mean that they would charge data for calls. What if I just want their calls and have not opted for data plans? Do you still think they would charge me data + call charges?

U wont be double charged for sure as the technology is smartly designed enough to identify how ur making calls i.e via VoLTE or normal traditional calls.
n u would be charged for data or ur data would be consumed for sure if ur using VoLTE option as it primarily works via internet data only.

@goyal.dkg

I meant the same by trying to tell we wont be charged for data even though it uses data for the call but maybe was ambiguous. Thanks for putting it in simpler way https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

again!!! say mins/tradional calls bro as ppl will get confused. mins means the normal traditional calls which doesnt need Internet data which we use as of now. data means internet data which will be consumed in VoLTE/ Video calls on LTE/ internet DL n UL n browsing.

also in future normal calls will be unlimited by default especially in postpaid plans n would be basically priced on data plans subscription as
normal call mins would be negligible for telcos as data consumption would be the key revenue generator.
