Thanks a lot. Can you tell me the battery performance and free RAM available with Vanir ROM? Is it near stock ROM or does it have heavy customization? Customization always take away battery and Ram usage.

Thinking to going for JB 4.2.2 first as most roms will be stable now after lot of development. But if Kitkat ROMS are bug free, then just may jump into it.

There is an app called app2sd. Search in playstore. That should do. Also you could do with settings > Applications > Select individual application > Move to external storage option.

App2sd app will simplify things.

I did rooting, installed FreeGee and then TWRP from that app so I guess my bootloader is unlocked.

I don’t have SD card.

So should I simply copy VANIR ROM to phone and boot into recovery then select this ROM?
Anything else required – like flashing GAPPS or anything else?

How is the Wi-Fi connectivity. In stock ROM my WiFi is not able to catch signal whereas on same area my iPhone is able to catch signal.

I am still going through XDA as this is my first Android experience. I would appreciate if someone can provide detail steps to customize with VANIR ROM.

I use cwm recovery which is flashed through freegee & better you use a sdcard rather then using phone storage because during flashing procedure you need to wipe data & do a factory reset so it might also wipe your phone storage also.
1st off all you have to download vanir rom & banks gapps,put it on your sdcard,plug it into phone than do a reboot
2nd take backup of your all data like contact,photos,music,video,msg.etc in pc so you will able to restore in new rom
3rd switch off your phone,than go in recovery by pressing vol+ & vol- button with power on button for about 5 sec,there is a screen with option of (use vol+ or vol- to select) 1,start 2,restart bootloader 3,power off 4,recovery-now go into recoveryby pressing power button when there is 4,recovery option apear on screen
4th now into recovery you have to use vol+ for upward movement to select or vol- for downard movement tp select any option,& power button to confirm any thing
5 into recovery 1st off all go into backup & restore-go into backup to /storage/sdcard1-select it by power button ,the phone will tack back up all thing to sdcard(will take around 5 minute) after completing it ,select go back (bottom last option) so main recovery menu will apear
6 into recovery-a:select wipe data/factory reset-press power button-another menu will open select yes ,thats do a factory reset
b:select wipe cach partion-press power button-give yess that will wipe cache
C:select mount & storage-press power button -than there is a menu-in that 1st option written as mount/system select it,press the power button so it turns into unmount/system ,do the same for 3d option data so ultimately there is top 3 option looks like :unmount/system unmount/cache unmount/data
Now go down into same & select format/system,give yes ,than formate/cache give yes,than format/data give yes than go botto last option-go back it will shows main recovery menu
d:select install zip-press power button so another menu wil apear-in that select choose zip from storage/sdcard 1,so content of sdcard will appear in that choose the rom file ,press power button ,give yess now phone will install the rom,which takes around 2 minute in end there is writen install from sdcard is complete
7 so now in main recovery select reboot system now the phone will rebooted into new rom (takes around 4 minute )

I’m facing one issue with my phone that mobile internet is not working. WIFI is working fine, can make/ receive call also. But when switching on data plan, internet doesn’t comes up.

Let me know there are any suggestions. Went thru threads, but couldn’t find anything.

i can only enter into download mode but i dont have the kdz file….

It will not be. You may flash the stock firmware. The phone will stay unlocked

Thanks for all the inputs. Going to try this ROM once i get free time. Sounds great though, battery and RAM are prime concerns. BTW if i may ask, can you post benchmark scores of antutu and quadrant on this ROM?

Bettery performance improved a lot specially phone not drain bettery in deep sleep(iwhen not in usage)
Free ram available around 1.2 to 1.3 gb
Its near to stok kitakat(aosp-4.4.2)
The usual interface & Gaming goes realy smooth
Camera quality improves a lot like say-indor images captured by stock rom is around 1.5 mb some noise(grainyness) where as in vanir rom its around 2.8 mb without any grainyness

I also want fm. sometimes its good to listen to fm than mp3 player.

I rooted my phone using Frameroot and then installed titanium Backup and took a Backup of all system apps. it took quite some time to complete the back up.. Stored back up in internal memory. (had not created stored folder on SD card..)
I have not yet un-installed the At&T Bloatwares..(removal of which is my primary objective)..
As of now my phone is working normal and have rebooted twice/thrice..

Bu now I am seeing a Lock symbol while rebooting (in the last stage, just before the main screen appear much after the At&T icon ).. this symbol was not coming earlier..
Is it some kind of warning signal for security error.. or is it normal for every phone which is rooted?

Rooting and unlocking is very very easy for this phone.

Root LG E970 – Install Framaroot from Google Play
Unlock Bootloader – Freegee which unlocks your Bootloader and installs a recovery

Did you have to install BusyBox in the process of opening Freegee? It asked me to. Please let me know.

Me too getting same lock symbol in the middle of the screen. But it seems like not a big problem to me, since phones working fine.

10 days usage Report :-

• Battery usage was pretty decent for me .I keep my WiFi switched on all the time + 1 hr of mobile Data
  + Bluetooth for Work Purposes. Battery lasts for about 24 – 26 hr’s on an average.
• For me the phone came with ICS (4.0.4) so had to upgrade to Jellybean (4.1.2) using LGNPST + Slenzo’s Stock Bin. Was able to update multiple times without any issues. Downgrading back to ICS 4.0.4 also causes no issues. Although Jellybean (4.1.2) is pretty stable).
• So far have tested Mokee 4.4.2 + CM 11 (Nightly) + AOSP (4.4.2) + SlimKat (Experimental) ROM’s. All of these ROM’s presently lack proper support for WifiDirect + Miracast (which i use a lot). This is expected since the ROM’s are currently under development and have not reached the RC stages. But still they are pretty stable for Daily usage. I found AOSP to be the most stable.

• I have also tested the Chromecast compatibility with LG E970 and it works flawlessly which was good to see .

• Also tested WiFi Direct Share with Superbeam which too works perfectly. Since i require Miracast a lot i have finally settled back to the Stock Jellybean (4.1.2) and removed all the bloatware after rooting using Framaroot. Bootloader is presently unlocked using Fregee.I have also tested the Teenybin method for repairing the soft Brick which too works as described by slenzo (XDA).

• I also successfully overclocked the S4 Pro to 1.7 Ghz (Can be clocked till 1.9 – 2 Ghz) but as expected the battery drain was a issue with overclocking so underclocked back to 1.5GHz which gives optimum performance.

• Camera was the only let down in night mode. But that is acceptable to me. So was not a issue.

I have switched from iPhone 4/4S and believe me its worth it !! I have used various phones in past Note 2 , Note 3 , S4 , S3 , S2 (used to Work @ Samsung ) . I can confidently say that iPhone does not stand a chance against the plethora of options Android provides . So to all those buying iPhones 4’s for ~20K don’t waste your money on generations old shit !!! The Config of this device simply stands in comparison to any beast out their !!!! Be sensible and reject the dumping of age old generation products !! they are not worth it !!!
