Since 500 and 1000rs notes were planned to be banned, they came up with 2000rs note as higher denomination. However after new 500rs note it was almost obvious that 2000 note will be taken away which is happening now. But the timing of this is debatable

The RBI has also advised banks to stop issuing ₹2,000 denomination banknotes with immediate effect. About 89% of the ₹2,000 denomination banknotes were issued prior to March 2017 and are at the end of their estimated life-span of 4-5 years.
The total value of these banknotes in circulation has declined from ₹6.73 lakh crore at its peak as on March 31, 2018 (37.3% of notes in circulation) to ₹3.62 lakh crore constituting only 10.8% of notes in circulation as on March 31, 2023.
“It has also been observed that this denomination is not commonly used for transactions. Further, the stock of banknotes in other denominations continues to be adequate to meet the currency requirement of the public. In view of the above, and in pursuance of the ‘Clean Note Policy’ of the RBI, it has been decided to withdraw the ₹2,000 denomination banknotes from circulation,” RBI said.
hope they don't release 5k note saying due to high prices and inflation, bribes also have been increased officially and this move is only to make work easy for citizens for government related works to be done quickly 😈
soon they will ban physical currency itself and ensure each of us have a bank account so that they can monitor all transactions and deduct TDS then and there and fund their party work instead of waiting for the big shots to fund them during elections and if their big money tank guys have made frauds then to cover up the bank loans in the name of bad loads write off they will increase debit card fees/MAB fines will go high as its easy to get 10k crores from people easily in the name of fine (100Rs from 100 crore bank accounts assuming they wantedly open/make people open bank accounts to curb cash transactions)...👿
Waste as much taxpayers money as possible...ban-print-ban... repeat.
All black money's in 2k note now they would exchange it for 500 note (they did same last time also 99% money returned to bank for a reason) which will indirectly cost rbi more to print those, already rbi lost thousands of crores printing new notes, now they have to print more 500 note cash circulation is at highest already

Government have done many good job , but this is one of the worst one
I don't think common people would have lakhs of rupees in denomination of 2000 notes
If not - can easily deposit in bank in next few months common man doesn't loose anything in this case
