One day, during an evening class for adults, the psychology Teacher entered the class and told his students, “Let’s all play a game!” “What Game?” asked the students. The Teacher asked one of the students to volunteer. A lady named Aliza came forward.

https://i.imgur.com/p46XFo5.jpg

The Teacher asked her to write about 30 names of most important people in her life on blackboard. Aliza wrote her family members names and relatives names, friends names, her colleagues names and her neighbors names.

The Teacher told her “Please erase 3 names from the list that you consider most unimportant”. Aliza erased names of her colleagues. The Teacher again told her to delete 5 more names. Aliza did as the Teacher instructed and this time she erased her neighbor’s names. This went on until there were just four names left on the blackboard.

Aliza now hesitated as the names left were of her mother, father, husband and her son… The entire class became silent and they realized that this wasn’t a game anymore for Aliza. She had to make the difficult choice.

The Teacher told her to delete two more names. Eliza unwillingly deleted her parents names. “Please delete one more” said the professor. Aliza became very nervous and with trembling hands she deleted her son’s name. Aliza cried out painfully…

The Teacher told Aliza to take her seat. And after a while asked her why she didn’t choose her parents or her son instead of her husband as the parents are the ones that nurtured her and the son is the one she gave birth to while she could find another husband. “Why is your husband the most important for you?” He asked.

It was totally quiet in the class, everyone was curious to know her response. Aliza calmly and slowly said, “One day my parents will pass away before me. Surely, my son will also leave me when he grows old for his studies or business or whatever reason. The only one who I truly share my entire life with, is my Husband”. All the students stood up and applauded for her in a great excitement.

We meet many people in our lives. They come and they go. Some stay for a while, some stay forever. Respect every relation, but know the priorities.

Relations Ego both are inter connected
The first fails if the second is hurt
The second fails if the first succeeds

A true friend understands when you say, “I forgot”
Waits forever when you say, “1 minute”
Stays when you say, “leave me alone”
and opens the door, “even before you knock..”

An incident once took place when a student of Knowledge was taking a walk with his teachers in one of the gardens of their school. During this walk, the student decided to address a problem he was facing and seek its remedy from his teacher. He began to tell his teacher, ‘I have a spiritual ailment; I am habitual of talking ill of others and mentioning matters about them behind their backs.’

The teacher carried on walking for a moment and then asked him, ‘do you have a mobile phone?’ The student answered affirmatively and took out his phone to show his teacher. The phone was one of the latest models on the market and he had just purchased it recently.

Upon seeing the phone and the student’s attachment to it, he asked the student to throw the phone in a nearby mud patch and trample upon it. Whilst astonished by the teacher’s request, the student questioned, ‘how can I throw this phone on the floor? It has cost me a lot of money and is worth a lot to me.’

The teacher replied to him with the following words of wisdom, ‘So too is the respect and honour of your brother/friend as sanctified and valuable as this in the eyes of God. How can it be easy for you to trample upon this honour and respect with such ease?’

The student realised how he had never understood nor appreciated the true value of a human being; and from that day on wards he never failed to compare the respect of his brothers to all those items which were the most valuable to him.

Have a great relationship, with few steps forward

1. Respect People
Always talk to people with respect; speaking to them like you want to be spoken to. Be kind in your words and actions. Think before you speak, because once the words leave your mouth, they can’t ever be taken back. Your words may be forgiven, but they will never be forgotten. When you speak harshly to someone, you put a small crack in that relationship. Too many small cracks and the relationship will crumble.

2. Be Loyal and Trustworthy
Be the kind of person that can always be counted on to do the right thing. Never do anything to betray that trust. Always be honest, and always temper your honesty with kindness. Let them know that they can always lean on you, and even their deepest secrets are safe. If you don’t have trust in a relationship, you don’t have anything to build on.
“A friend is one who walks in when others walk out” ~~ Walter Winchell

3. Put Others First – Be a Friend
I know it’s not easy, but you need to put the needs of others first. By that very act you show how much you care, and how important that relationship is to you. When you enter a relationship with a heart that puts others first, you are blessed by the fruits that are grown from such an act. By showing a genuine interest in others, you show yourself a friend, and gain loyal, lifelong friends to yourself.
As Dale Carnegie said, "You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.
“The only reward of virtue is virtue; the only way to have a friend is to be one.” ~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

4. Don’t Try and Be Someone You’re not
Always strive to be your best self, but never try and be someone you’re not. Relationships built upon lies and distortions will never stand. Real friends are honest and upfront with each other. If you want to have a real friend, then be a real friend. Part of being a real friend is being yourself. If you want to impress someone, impress them with your kindness and friendship.

5. Don’t Take People For Granted
I think this act probably causes more hurt, resentment, or weakening of friendships than any other. We go from enjoying someone’s company, really appreciating all the things they do for us, and thinking about how great they are for the things they do. Then, let a little time go by, and we stop acknowledging the good things about them. We come to expect certain things that we considered special at one time. Don’t do it, it’s a relationship breaker. No one wants to be taken for granted.

6. Be Forgiving
What if the one being taken for granted is you? It hurts to feel like you’re not appreciated. If we aren’t vigilant in caring for our relationships, these things can easily happen. That’s why it is important for us to look at others like Christ looks at us, with compassion and forgiveness.
Be sure to talk to the person taking you for granted. Don’t let it build inside until the relationship is destroyed and irreparable. If they’re a true friend they should apologize and be willing to change that.
Another trick to great relationships is good communications, and not holding grudges. Be forgiving as Christ is forgiving.

7. Be Positive and Encouraging
I love being around people who are positive and encouraging. It brings out the best in me and causes me to want to be positive and encourage to others. Can you think of a better emotional boost than to help put a smile on someone’s face?

Dwelling on and being discouraged over problems will do nothing to make them better. We need to acknowledge the problem, tell that problem it’s not going to define us, and then get to working finding a solution.

When someone you care about is down and hurting, you getting depressed with them will do nothing to help. What you need to do is show them compassion, be empathetic, and let them know you’re there for them.
Then you need to lift them up. Help them to see some of the wonderful things about themselves and their life. Sometimes people just need to be reminded that they’re special, and we believe in them even when they quit believing in themselves.

I believe in being simple, straightforward and confident. As a person, I gravitate towards happy and positive things, and that is the one philosophy I live by. I also like to surround myself with people I love; people I can trust and be myself with. That’s when I feel most happy and at peace, which reflects on the outside.
