Even i wanted to apply for Simply Click card. the Bank executive told that I can get Card based on the FD ,
but that also comes with a fees or spend based fees waiver,
Since i do have a salary account with SBI I was told that both SBI simply save and Simply click gives same rewards and for salary accounts
they offer only Simply save credit card free for 1st year and fee waiver from 2nd year on spends of 30k.
Was i provided with the right information ?
even on an FD do i need to pay the credit card fees i don’t meet the minimum spend ? experienced CC dimers please help on this

As far as I know SBI cards don’t come with “customised spending based waiver” like what the person told you. Maybe it is some one time promotional scheme but even then I wouldn’t trust it without confirmation in writing which you will not get. Simplyclick card will cost you 587(incl gst) if you don’t spend 1 lakh in a year but it also gives 2.5% on all amazon transactions(excl amazon pay wallet loading) so you can pay all utilities/insurance premium on amazon using this card to get 2.5% worth reward points & meet the 1 lakh spend target.

I already have
Indusind Amex Iconica
Prime Account + APay ICICI
HDFC Millenia
HSBC Visa Platinum
Yes Bank (Something)
Should I still go for this card for Amazon rewards..
I actually needed this only for SBI related offers, so that i dont have to go on
searching and asking anyone to give his her card.
Also if you know about how to get the Card via FD and the charges associate with it, It will be really helpful

Don’t trust anything the bank executives say. They are trained only to push cards and have only half-baked information about the features. A confirmation call will come after approval who will give you the correct details but by then it will be too late. Better to read everything online.
If you have a salary account with the bank, try to apply for the regular cards instead of through FD. Then, you will get a joining gift equal in value to first-year fee and also your money won’t be frozen in the FD. If it doesn’t get approved for some reason, you can try with FD. The FD cards are called Simply Save Advantage and Simply Click Advantage and they usually don’t come with the joining gifts.
For both SimplySave and SimplyClick ( regular as well as Advantage/FD variants), the spending value to waive fee from second year onwards is 1Lakh. If the executive says they’ll offer FD cards first year free and waiver 30k, ask them to give that to you in writing.
Also, the rewards are not the same for both cards. For Simplyclick (and Simplyclick advantage), it’s 2.5% on Amazon, Cleartrip and a few more sites, 1% on all other online spends and 0.25% on offline spends. For simplysave (and Simplysave advantage), it’s 2.5% on all offline grocery stores, offline departmental stores and restaurants and 0.25% on all other online/offline spends. Another difference is that reward points can be directly converted into statement credit on Simply save but not Simplyclick.

@saddam9304967 If you’ve given them Pan, adhaar and FD details along with photograph in the branch no separate address verification is done. You’ll just get phone calls saying you’re approved and another to confirm card details.

@beastboy with all these cards I am not sure you actually need simplyclick because I don’t see you spending 1 lakh on this card & without that you will be paying 587 as annual fee from 2nd year onwards(1st year also you pay but you also get 500 amazon voucher as welcome gift so that cancels it). Get this card only if you are planning on spending at least 10000 in an amazon sale with sbi credit card 10% offer like current one because here you will then get 1000(sbi 10% off) + 500(yono 5% unlimited but if not having yono which needs sbi savings acc then no point in getting simplyclick if you already have apay icici card) + 250(simplyclick 2.5% reward points) compared to apay icici 500(5% unlimited) but out of that (1000 + 500 + 250) you will lose 600 as card annual fee so with remaining 1150 you can still say taking this card was not a loss. Yono offer also works with sbi debit card & amazon biggest sale of the year which happens in oct always has sbi debit card also incl in offer.

P.S. sbi card against FD can only be taken by visiting branch & there is no processing fee or any other type of fee. In fact during verification call you will be specifically asked to confirm that you had not paid any cash to agents/card persons for this application. Physical verification of address is only done in case of self employed person taking card against income & not FD in which case the person’s company/office address will be verified.

@beastboy A friend of mine has planned to reach 1L spends once in three years as he is having multiple cards. Every 3rd year he’ll save 2500 (2.5%) + 1500 (Cleartrip voucher) = 4000. He has availed the card primarily for 10% discount during sales.

Finance Mentor Finance Mentor

Aah great.. Didnt know that we can do this and get benefitted.. 1 lakh in 3 years shouldnt be a big deal
and the 1500 cleartrip voucher itself will approximately cover the cost of the card fees..
I thought the milestones vouchers are provided only for spends done withing a single year..
any futher details on how he is saving only 2.5% only every 3rd year..
it should be 10% (sale discount) + 5%(Yono) + 2.5%(as usual online shopping discount)..
i feel he is not counting the sale an yono discount and is counting only the normal 2.5% discount right bro ?

@beastboy first of all keep in mind that any corporate credit card is excluded from all offers on shopping sites irrespective of which bank corporate credit card it is. Second, I think this is some test basis/non-regular cc being pushed by sbi agent most likely because he gets higher commission on selling this card compared to regular ones. same reason why many people get different card when they apply for simplyclick card & specifically/repeatedly ask/told agent about this. @Sins1995

@beastboy After reading the complete thread, it appears your main reason for getting a SBI card is only for those dedicated 10% SBI offers; now considering all the rest cards that you have → my personal suggestion would be to get the FD based CC (save/click both nearly same for you since you have iconia & apay both which will cover offline and online spends), since it will be free (Edit: not sure, since some users say it’s free, while others contradict !!!)and you will use it only for these types of offers; you don’t have to use to think about waiver fee and can use other cards combination for better rewards. Get the FD limit as per your choice, 30K should be enough;
Now coming to Simply Save Pro → as per the pamphlet pic, it’s a lower version of simplysave; no features of simplyclick (online type) mentioned and only 5x for offline type spend → personal suggestion not to go for this card, as advised get FD based simply-click/save as your wish.
Also, as mentioned before by one of the user, Corporate cards are always excluded from any bank on such 10% type of dedicated bank offers;
Regarding salary account free/ltf CC, I have no idea
P.S.: How the F do you have 3 salary accounts ? laughing

SBI FD based cards are not free. You have to pay the first year fee and won’t get joining benefits. Also, the waivers for fee reversal from second year are the same as for regular cards. Moreover, unlike some other banks, SBI doesn’t convert an FD card to a regular card if you close the FD after accumulating some history. You’ll separately have to apply for a regular card at that point which is a hassle (though documentation requirements will be less then). If you are salaried and have a decent credit history, there is absolutely no reason to go for an SBI FD based card.

SBI may be pushing this as its newly launched card grinning
I got this link for IRCTS card is this correct ?

The link for rupay variant.

You can’t compare simplyClick with other cards.
My suggestion is only for availing ecom promotional offers.

Yeah got HDFC millenai approx 2 weeks back.. though i have clear intention to get
it upgraded to a different card after 6 months…
No idea if it was bad luck that another HDFC agent or executive called today
and offered me LTF HDFC diners premium privilege stating it gives 4% reward on
any transaction online or offline.
I searched online and found that there is diners premium and also diners privilege.
So still not sure which was the card offered but didnt discussed much as i told them
that i already got the HDFC card a couple of days back.. though i saved their number
will call them after 6 months stuck_out_tongue

Can anyone confirm practical examples of grocery, dining, movies and departmental stores based on your ‘real’ experience (not copy-paste from TnC) for SBI Simply Save Card ?

1) Offline Medicine Shop (Apollo Pharmacy/1med/medplus/other) gets 10x rewards in ‘department stores’ category ?
2) Online Medicine Sites (1mg/Netmeds/PharmEasy/Apollo 24×7) gets 10x rewards in ‘department stores’ category ?
3) Malls (BigBazar/Reliance Fresh/More/Spencers) gets 10x rewards in ‘grocery’ category ?
4) Swiggy/Zomato/Dineout/Dominos eligible for 10x reward points in ‘dining’ category ?
5) Offline Cloth stores / Kirana stores falls under which category ?
6) BookMyShow (BMS) eligible for 10x reward points in ‘movies’ category ?
7) Yatra/MMT/ClearTrip how much reward point they give for Simply Save, any idea ?

Any other spends, not mentioned above, which give 10x accelerated reward points based on your experience for Simply Save card ?
