Hello Dimers,
Here are the new rules for posting deals. Please take a moment to go through them and share your feedback before Sunday.
If you’d like to check the current rules, they’re available too.

Deal Merging Guidelines

1. 5-Day Rule for Merging Deals
  • Expired and Revived Deals:
If a deal expires and becomes live again, creating a new thread after 5 days will not be considered a repost. but it will merge if admins or moderators found that users are spamming unnecessarily.

2. Handling Expired Deals in Threads

  • Scenario 1: Deal Revives Within 5 Days:
    • Options:
      • Creating a New Thread: User can post a new deal if the price is the same but if previous deal is expired or price is lower then only creating a new thread will not be a repost.

      • Comment on the Original Thread:
        • If the deal is live again within 5 days at the same price comment on the original thread.

        • Creating a new thread before 5 days (if it came at the same price with the same/different offers [bank offers, coupons and so on if any]) will be considered as repost and it may/may not be merged on discretion of admins.

        • If there is a significant price drop, users are allowed to create a new thread within 5 days.

        • Admins will share credits accordingly if users comment within 5 days old thread

        • Note: Always check if the original thread is within the 5-day window before commenting for credit purposes

  • Scenario 2: Deal Revives After 5 Days:
    • Please avoid commenting on original thread. Instead, Kindly create a new topic to ensure proper credit distribution.

    • If you Commented on 5 days old thread that thread can be Revived but you will loose the Credits

    • Creating a new thread after 5 days will not be considered as repost, however few restrictions applies (check below)

    • Creating a new thread after (if it came at the same price with the different offers [bank offers, coupons and so on if any]) will not be considered as repost.

3. Reposts and Merging Rules

  • Same Deal Posted Within 5 Days:
    • Admins have the right to merge duplicate deals to avoid unnecessary spamming.

    • If the price drops slightly, it is better to comment on the original thread.

    • Admins will distribute credits to deserving contributors.

    • If Price is Same after All Offers (Bank Offers, Coupons & So on if any), it will be considered as repost.

Notes:

1. Default Bank Offers (such as 5% as cashback with Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card on Amazon, 5% cashback with Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card on Flipkart and more) if came solely will not considered for price drops and above rule will apply.

2. We Suggest you to comment on the original thread only if there is only slight drop in price. (Leaving this to our Dimers' Consciousness as making rules on this will be quite difficult). However, Admins/Mods may exercise merger of threads in such cases upon their discretion if unnecessary and spamming done by posters repeatedly superseding the above rules.

  • Deals with Official Expiry Dates:

  • In specified expiry date deals if Terms & Conditions changes then only it will not be merged. If only end date is changed/extended; in such cases, it'll be merged with the original thread.

  • Same price (up to 30 days).. admin can merge with 1st thread according to their discretion if it has no out of stock, expired comments.

4. Reposting Deals After 5 Days

  • After 5 Days:
    • If a deal is posted with the same price after 5 days, it will be treated as a repost. (If the past deal has expired or user has commented oos or expired and that deal is back again then creating new topic is allowed)

    • For deals that remain at the same price for long period (e.g., 15 days to 1 months), avoid creating multiple threads. And those deals which have long expired date like 2 or 6 months and users has already added end date that type of deals if again posted will be considered as repost.

  • Admins may merge or delete threads if spamming is observed.

5. Product Price Drops
  • If a Product Price Drops:
    • You can create a new topic to highlight the price drop.

    • Alternatively, comment on the existing thread if it is within the 5-day window.

By following these guidelines, you can help maintain an organized and spam-free forum while ensuring fair credit distribution.

Upcoming Deals

Guidelines for Posting Upcoming Sales and Launches

1. For Banner Deal Sale/Offer Details:

  • Name of the sale or event (e.g., Big Billion Days, Amazon Great Indian Festival).

  • Date and time of the sale (start date)

  • Bank Offers

  • Mention the source of the details (official website, social media announcements, etc.).

  • In cases of either no dates or no official banner, it'll shift to other sections (DnD)/deleted

  • In case of change in dates, kindly mention it in original thread only.

2. For Product Launch Details Required :

  • Product Name

  • Product Link or Url from respective Store/Platform

  • Product Price After All discounts (Coupon if any + Bank Offers)

  • Date of Sale

  • Any Unique features or specifications (e.g., for gadgets, include RAM, storage, etc.).

Note: in case of only launch date and not sale date, price it'll moved to other sections (DnD). We will share credit with launch thread as well but thread with full details will be considered as main topic

Note: Deals with proper details will remain as main threads. Incomplete deals will be moved to the "Dost & Dimes" section. If the sale date changes (e.g., from August 5th to 4th or 7th), users can update it to the original thread. Credit will be given for the updated date to that user and just for dates no new thread is required. If the offer changes completely, a separate thread can be created.

Extended Deals
  • Posting in Extended Deals:
    • If a deal's validity is extended, users should comment in the original thread rather than creating a new one. Creating a new thread for an extended deal will be considered a repost.

    • But if extended offer Terms & condition has changed or reward link is changed then creating a new thread will not be considered as repost but users should add proper TNC for the same

Multiple Product Link & Single Product Link
  • Handling Multiple Product Links: If a user posts a deal with multiple links and provides 5 suggestions from those links, and another user posts the same products from original poster suggestions then second poster deal will be merged. However, if the user does not provide suggestions and only includes multiple links, and another user posts a single product deal, the deals will not be merged.

Note: When adding multiple thread links, please limit the suggestions to a maximum of 5-6, not more.

Pin Code Specific Deals

Kindly mention at least one working pincode where product is available at that price.

You may create a thread if you find a better price at a different location, however we appreciate it more if you comment in the original thread if the credit period is not over ( i.e within 5 days) We'll share credits accordingly.

If a user posts a deal from Mumbai at ₹50, and the same deal is available at a higher price in Delhi (e.g., ₹52, ₹55, ₹60 etc), it should be added to the same thread. Do not create a new topic unnecessarily. However, if the deal in Delhi is available at a lower price (e.g., ₹44, ₹45), a separate thread can be created, and it will not be merged.

Posting deals with different pin codes and prices in the same thread is highly appreciated, as it helps visitors avoid searching for different locations in different threads.

This rule applies to all deals. If two or more users share deals within a 10-second gap and include complete details, dimes credit will be given to both users after checking logs. Both deals will be merged regardless of the time difference. Please note that both threads must include all relevant details, including any terms and conditions, to qualify for credit.

These rules are created to make it easier for both Dimers and admins to manage the forum. Since the forum is large, it can be challenging to maintain and enforce all the rules. However, by establishing clear guidelines for common scenarios, it will be easier for both users and admins to post deals. Admins and moderators will follow these rules to ensure fairness and maintain a clean forum, aiming to showcase the best and lowest deals on our platform.

Noone will learn things from day one. It takes time for any new member or even admin to get along with this vast forum n rules.
So talking about competency and judging wont be right i feel. Every thread has alert admin feature, if its not getting solved then there are always other admins which are there to help n solve.
So lets try to solve together.

One point which i feel we should add

1. Seller Rating should be 50% +ve & minimum 100 users rating (will help us eliminate new seller deals which mostly gets cancelled/wrong item sent/delayed shipping, etc)

for example

Some products are listed as inflated MRP & followed by huge discount.

A few users post these things as loot deals.

It would be nice if Everyone posts the regular/actual price instead of inflated one.

What's your take to handle it?

What Do You Mean by "spamming unnecessarily" ? 🤣🤣 Spamming When Becomes Necessary!

You know better than me 😄 since you’re a great deal poster, but still asking... If a user repeatedly posts the same-priced deal within a month, it’s clearly spamming unless someone mentions it’s back in stock or out of stock in the thread.

Only Seller Ratings Na? Because Product Rating Can be Less But It Might be Worthy (1-5 Ratings Only)

Also, You Did Mention Earlier

      /comments/permalink/10235961

Guys definition of spam is not sharing quick deals in "hot deal section"
its more related to the quality of deals also shared. One of the reason its named "hot deal"
Sharing anything which is listed on e-commerce websites cant be considered as deal.
Soon we will start in-deapth evaluation of deals shared and we will start deleting which doesnt fit in hotdeal section.

So, Where Are Laws on This?

it' difficult to identify it.

Even the branded product.

It might be counterproductive during peak sale seasons, to disincentivise one from posting a new thread.
Say after 70 hours, there is a new price revival on an item from a different seller,
if mods, admins cannot or are not available to update the main post, then the update post in the old thread and the back in stock status might get missed.

The term 'significant' in 'significant price drop' is vague. It is open to interpretation.

What happens in the scenario where:
user [A] posted a thread.
On day 5, user [B] updates the thread with a price update

but just outside the 5 day window, user [C] creates a new thread?
(When a random comment had already updated the thread of User [A], is User [B] still allowed to post a new thread?)

For location specific deals, there is no defined way of marking it as invalid.
Mods, Admins, influencers easily get biased at times.
Top deal posters are allowed to keep the topic out of the 'unfortunately the deal is expired' category.. even if they claim availability on one or two pincodes.
Often a less popular, non celebrity posters deals UNFAIRLY get marked as 'expired', despite the deal being available at multiple pincodes, even if it is not everywhere.

While posting the deal, in the new deal form itself.. can options be provided for segregation of price without exchange and price with exchange?

The deals which club multiple offers, rewards WITH the exchange offer.. show unrealistically low price at times, leading to higher engagement.

Clarity is needed as to when one can use terms like 'lowest ever'.
Is it based on data (topics) available on DesiDime or lowest in general, even if there is no deal posted at that lowest price in DesiDime forums.

Invalid or lapsed deals/ OOS deals.. intentionally posted by deal posters, even when called out as unavailable: should be quashed/deleted or allowed to remain?

Many time, despite being called out as unavailable.. within a minute of it being posted, it is seen that the deal gets traction and even corresponding dimes got awarded, as random cross talk helped the matrices.

'If the price drops slightly' is again vague or subject to interpretation and avoidable debates.

The rule about merging deals where just the 'end date' is extended.

Are you saying that if Amazon Prime Youth offer posted in.. say: 2020.. got extended by Amazon in 2024 by a year,
then someone posting anew thread for Amazon YouTube offer in 2024.. will have their thread merged with the one from 2020?
(I am just seeking clarity. I am not weighing on what is better or what is not.)

any new rules to curb spamming of the following kind?

Gadget: say a phone is available in 5 colours, with other specifications being same.
Users are often seen created a separate topic/feal for each colour!

Sometimes it might be same colour but different RAM or storage, but clearly the intention is to just have more dimes earning topics.

Users are seen bullying some deal posters over things like 'shipping charges', when everyone else and they themselves post deals where shipping is not free.

Can the shipping charges entry/row be added back in the deal creation form please?

Otherwise, even if an item is F-assured, Amazon fulfilled, the deal should still carry the final price with the default shipping charges.

Else if the current system continues, then bullying needs to stop.

Instead of a deal poster (or others) having to create a new post to tag users
or bump the topic with a comment tagging others..
can some opt-in be provided to users?

Something like groups but not groups?

Say I opt-in for (tag) alerts from user 'Priyanka'.
Then user 'Priyanka' can get/ can be given some feature/form where she can ping the opt-in users she wants to send the notification to.

This is not a feature request per se, but a request to have less notification spamming in deals.
Out of courtesy or to not spoil one's equation.. people often put up with tags from deal poster friends.
But they have not consented to such repeated notifications by deal posters.

Please give  facility to save a deal draft as a "template". So while creating new deal next time , draft  template can be used and modified snd posted quickly.

This: is a feature request.

So like saved bookmarked topics, saved posts.. it would be localised for a specific user?

Or what you are saying is that all or almost all deal's main post should have a standardised layout/ structure?

In that case, I would go on to add my own feature requests, even though this topic is about rules or whatever.

The feature request is for the FAQ points, terms and conditions points
to be a collapsible feature.
Default toggled OFF and only if one clicks the plus sign or on the 'expand' button.. should it make one scroll through the list.

One reason that I see why there would be less interest in implementing your suggestions, my suggestions.. is..
to k.i.s.s. (keep it simple, short).

If they can separately give the 'get deal' or the 'buy now' click-out, they surely can also develop whatever we are requesting.

But for one, there is no direct (revenue) incentive for them to do so.
And more importantly, they may not want to scare away potential deal posters by making it all seem complicated (even if it is not actually complicated).

In-fact the layout on the homepage even though a compact version.. IS standardised layout.
Those though are handpicked/ (AI) botpicked, I think.

Make provision somewhere in the deal heading to mention " region or pincodes" where deal is applicable at the time of posting. Keep this optional.

This will help dimers to see , without opening a deal,  if deal is for his reagion or not.
