Apple’s latest software updates are here with the official release of iOS 14.4 and iPadOS 14.4. Both updates carry significant kernel and WebKit vulnerability fixes so it’s best to install them on your devices as soon as possible.

According to a security document shared by Apple, an unnamed malicious app could gain elevated privileges and serve as a gateway for exploits. The WebKit issues allowed remote attackers to execute harmful code on your device. Apple is doing an ongoing investigation of the matter and assures the exploits were patched with the new updates.

The new iOS version is available on iPhone 6s and up as well as iPod touch (7 gen) while iPadOS will be compatible with iPad Air 2 / iPad mini 4 and up. Other new additions include the ability to scan smaller QR codes and the option to classify Bluetooth devices in Settings which helps collect Headphone Audio Level measurements on third party devices.

Vulnerabilities are part of any modern operating system or any software for that matter.

This proves that the claim Apple users make that iOS is more secure and less vulnerable is a myth.

But you have to agree that the Speed at which Apple can patch bugs and rollout an iOS ota update for all the affected devices is lot faster than Android can do… Because of huge variety of hardware and Android ROM customised for each of them from hundreds of brands… all using the same Android version.

If given a chance then I would never update my iOS ever. With every update the battery starts getting degraded faster and the battery life drastically reduces compared to what was before the update. Apple even had a lawsuit file against them for the same issue but still they keep doing this scam with every update. They will make your phone so sick with every update that you will be forced to get a new iPhone to overcome this sickness. Worst part of owning an iPhone.

You have to read or watch experience of others users if that happens to them or not. Though this can vary depending on device model and iOS version.

I’ve heard iOS 14 has infact increase battery life a bit especially standby time for older generation iPhones like SE ,6S, 7 so on.

I think Apple has learnt it’s Lesson. And every lithium ion battery degrades over time ( even if you don’t use it) and with every charge cycle ( time you charge and deplete the battery) So replacing the battery after 2-3 years of (or 80% of remaining battery health) use is strongly recommended
