Recently, Google Wallet’s app store page was spotted with screenshots of Indian brands after which the company removed it. This is what rumored the arrival of Google Wallet in India as users could already use it via 3rd-party apk. However, it is now officially launched for Indian Android users.

Google Wallet’s aim is to get you fast, secure access to your everyday essentials. It will be different from Google Pay as you can use it for organizing digital tickets for travel (transit pass, boarding pass), movies, event alerts, gift cards, car keys, food orders, loyalty points, and much more. Thus, it will not serve as a payments app unlike its name! You can also get a digital pass with this app via a photo which should include a barcode or QR code!
Google Wallet has tied-up with PVR, MakeMyTrip, Air India, BMW, Domino's, Kochi Metro, IKEA, Hyderabad Metro, and is expected to bring in more big brands like Reliance Smart Bazaar, Starbucks, Zomato, and Swiggy under its app.
Earlier it was unavailable for download in India, but now you can download Google Wallet, install, and use it via the Google Play Store.

“Using this, consumers can store a wide array of cards, including debit cards, credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards, among other items”
Google Wallet was launched in 2011 in the U.S. as a payments app, but in 2022 it was rebranded with the inclusion of GPay. Now, it has come to India to explore more possibilities into the digital convenience of Indian users.
Google Wallet identifies relevant brands from your Gmail and asks you if you want to add their cards/tickets into it. You can also add ID proofs like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc. just like Digilocker.
Expect promotional offers on the above brands as Google Wallet will want to roll in as many new users as they can.

Google- oh so no offers
Useless for now. There is no option for adding payment cards for now.
WearOS users will benefit the most.
Bhai log, Google play balance ko transfer krne ka koi method h jisme minimum service charges ho?
Another wallet for rotation🤔?
Edit: Looks like it's not like the online wallets we are used to (Paytm, Amazon, slice etc). It is more like our offline physical wallet to save gift cards, points, cards etc. Not sure if I will use it.
