Which A.C Is Best ?

VOLTAS (best in terms of price with lowest maintenance)
agar budget jyada ho toh Hitachi, aur agar kam ho toh VOLTAS

If best is what you are looking for then go for hitachi

P.S – i am using Daikin and it is too good, but as it is not in your list so not giving any feedback.
My friend is using hitachi and it is performing quite good.

A suggestion from my side is go for 3 star and save few bucks. In the long run the saving that you will now make by buying a 3 star ac instead of 5 star will be more or less same.

The best brands in AC are: Daikin, O general and Hitachi

Then comes Bluestar and one more brand whose name i forgot (carrier i suppose)

lastly Voltas, Samsung , Onida are budget brands

bhai hw much is difference b/w 3 star & 5 star…

my opinion saving alone shouldnt be sole concern…we should be responsible citizen too…save on electricity ..help nation…save environment
aftr all every unit of electricity saved is electicity generated…

Also, When i was going to purchase ac last year, i did some research :

1) Windows AC are better (energy efficient) than split ac’s. Since windows ac have compressor unit combined, they tend to be noisy.
2) AC technology is now of 2 types – Inverter and Non inverter Ac

Inverter Ac – Newer technology, costlier repairing, Basically it means that compressor is never off. It changes its state according to temperature. It performs at 100% initially and then lowers its processing power to say 40% value etc. Room temp is almost constant.
Non inverter Ac – Older technology, Cheaper to repair & maintain, Here compressor is either is On(100%) or Off state. It shuts off when the desired temp is achieved and turns on again when temperature goes higher than set value. Room temp keeps fluctuating in some small range

There is much debate online as to which technology is better and No clear answer as of now. Also Star Rating is different for both type of technologies. So we cannot compare an Inverter Ac with a Non inverter Ac via star ratings

Bhai, if your budget is flexible and quality is your primary concern, I’ll recommend you buy an AC from the following brands…

1. Carrier
- top-notch quality products
- inventors of modern air conditioning, approx. 100 year old brand
- has been the world’s largest HVAC maker for the past 9 decades (currently the world’s second largest HVAC maker)
- brand owned by the same company which owns Otis (world’s largest manufacturer of elevators and escalators), Pratt & Whitney (manufacturer of aircraft engines), Sikorsky (manufacturer of airplanes and helicopters), etc.

2. Daikin
- top-notch quality products
- approx. 90 year old Japanese company
- last year, overtook Carrier to become the world’s largest HVAC maker

3. O General (ETA/Fujitsu General) and 4. Hitachi
AFAIK, they are more popular in the consumer segment in India as opposed to Carrier and Daikin which are more popular in the commercial segment. I personally don’t know much about these brands but I believe the quality of their ACs should be equivalent to those from Carrier and Daikin. Do note that General ACs are super expensive.

5. Napoleon
good quality products… but it’s a very small, Delhi based company so I’m a little skeptical about their after sales service. Also, Napoleon ACs aren’t easily available in the market.

PS – Voltas used to make great ACs (in the same league as Carrier and Daikin) few years back, but lately their quality has deteriorated. I believe Tata has done this to reduce prices in order to compete with market leaders LG and Samsung. If your budget is tight you can consider Panasonic. Their parent company Matsushita’s (now Panasonic Corporation) compressors are used by many AC manufacturers. I don’t have any idea about Panasonic ACs but I somehow feel their quality will be better than LG, Samsung, etc. You can also consider Blue Star (already mentioned in your brand preference). Blue Star also makes good quality ACs. Basically, Blue Star= Desi Carrier.

Voltas window AC bought 13 years ago – Very good
Voltas window AC bought 5-6 years ago – Not so good
Carrier window AC bought 2 years ago – Very good (so far)

Besides the product quality, after sales service should also be factored while purchasing AC. If you are living in metro, it wouldn’t be much of issue.

I have both Carrier and Daikin and have received excellent service so far. Daikin is the benchmark in HVAC sytems. I bought Daikin for my parents for this reason;-}
Also watch out for the noise levels of AC if you are looking for windows AC in particular.

You may want to remove Voltas from your list. Their customer service always amuses me with their naiveness.

Diakin, carier, general, bluestar in descending order of preference,
only window one unless u have surplus money.( or better stay with window one n send the surplus money to me :-b
